I recently had a visitor to my shop ask me,”What’s with all the death and skulls?” Thought I’d throw part of the answer out to all of you as well. I have had a strange relationship with death that has given me some regrets and left me with questions. For each of my grandparents deaths I was not able to be there before they passed, one because I was young and made a mistake, the other because I was halfway across the earth in the Philippines. As I am exploring this relationship for myself it has lead me on a journey of discovering my mixed heritage. I also saw that I am not alone and I felt that I could also provide a way for people to go through their own process. Why does American society portray #death and #skulls as #evil in so many aspects? It is a natural process we will all experience. I make what I make to honor the #life of the being that was here. Take what is left of this #redtailhawk for example. This was a #backyarddiscovery today. Its #feathers are so beautiful! I want to honor its beauty and help it to stay with us for just a little longer. No, my art is not for all, but it is there for those who need it. We cross paths with people everyday, we all have our own stories, out own experiences, deep down we all want people to know us, to love us, and to recognize that we are here. Thank you for taking the time to read this and to get to know me just a little. Thank you for being here! 😁 #hawk #hawkfeathers #tucson #tucsonaz #honoreachother
