Posted to the Church YouTube channel. From 5:50 - 10:50 is the most important part to me. That’s a long 5 minutes, but worth it I think.

As I listened, I imagined Lucas being gay (he certainly doesn’t have to be for this story to work). But even if he isn’t, somewhere there is a Lucas who is. And I think stories like this, in which I can so easily imagine a queer person in Lucas’ role, just highlight how the potential contribution of queer people to the Gospel and Ministering is overlooked out of fear and loathing - neither of which are Christ-like characteristics.
