Astrology in Vikings

I received an ask about Astrology and Vikings characters. Here it is the second part. Ragnarssons will come next @amkatepet.

Erlendur: Scorpio

Putting aside the revenge’s aspect. We can see that Erlendur was really possessive of Torvi. For example, when Bjorn gives her a gift of a brooch, and Erlendur grabs it from her, telling it was too good for her, a whore. I mean, he is using her to take revenge, but he can’t handle sharing her with the son of his enemy. Still, he is obsessed with avenging his family.

Scorpio man can be obsessive, possessive and vindictive.  His emotions are deep and very hard to change once they are there, so if his partner sparks his heart, there is a bigger chance that his love will turn to hate than for it to fade or disappear. He will be intense in his approach and often dismiss the tender side of his emotions, as if it was expected of him to not show how weak he can be.

He can either be unconditionally trusted and relied on, or entirely detached and painfully distant, making choices with no regard to anyone else’s feelings.

Horik: Leo

Something’s coming your way. You can hear an awfully loud, crashing, roaring sound. Relax, it’s only the King of the Jungle making his grand entrance, turning up late, with tousled hair and a dramatic story to tell. It’s hard to miss a Leo man. Warm, enthusiastic, gregarious – he is on top of his world. He is dignified and strong, with an aura of power around him.

How can we forget Horik’s entrance in Uppsala. Mocking the priests there.

The Leo man is a natural born leader and his animal magnetism draws followers to him by the dozen. In a team situation, he is quite happy to work together with others, and will often be a key player, providing motivation and drive to his team.

Ruled by the Sun, the Leo man is outgoing, confident, and energetic. He is an ambitious sort, and once he sets his mind on something, he is determined to accomplish it. His eagerness, once stoked, is without limits and he is incredibly generous, loyal and honorable.

Leo is a Fixed sign, and this means that the Leo man can be opinionated and stubborn about certain things. It is hard to change this man’s decisions once he’s made up his mind, and because he’s also certain he’s always right, there is no guarantee that he will even hear out your side of the story.

Horik didn’t not take lightly when he noticed that Ragnar was building a fame for himself, attracting followers and taking the role of the leader of the raids in Wessex. Horik felt attacked in his glory.

Ragnar: Aquarius

Strengths: Progressive, original, independent, humanitarian. I mean, with all his flaws, I don’t see Ragnar as someone who took pleasure in killing or torturing people. That’s one of the reasons I hate that last conversation with Ivar. He was a curious man, always inquiring Athelstan about his world, and paying attention to other’s habits. My favorite Ragnar, from season one and two, wanted to build a new lifestyle for his people, wanted them to grow.

Weaknesses: Runs from emotional expression, temperamental, uncompromising, aloof.

Ragnar from season three and four was a little intransigent, thinking he knew best, reacting angrily when people didn’t agree with him.

Aquarius likes: Fun with friends, helping others, fighting for causes, intellectual conversation, a good listener.

Aquarius dislikes: Limitations, broken promises, being lonely, dull or boring situations, people who disagree with them

Aquarius-born are shy and quiet , but on the other hand they can be eccentric and energetic. However, in both cases, they are deep thinkers and highly intellectual people who love helping others. They are able to see without prejudice, on both sides, which makes them people who can easily solve problems.

Although they can easily adapt to the energy that surrounds them, Aquarius-born have a deep need to be some time alone and away from everything, in order to restore power. Let’s not forget Ragnar left for some years after the defeat in Paris.

People born under the Aquarius sign, look at the world as a place full of possibilities.

Aquarius is an air sign, and as such, uses his mind at every opportunity. If there is no mental stimulation, they are bored and lack a motivation to achieve the best result.

The ruling planet of Aquarius, Uranus has a timid, abrupt and sometimes aggressive nature, but it also gives Aquarius visionary quality. They are capable of perceiving the future and they know exactly what they want to be doing five or ten years from now.

Uranus also gave them the power of quick and easy transformation, so they are known as thinkers, progressives and humanists. They feel good in a group or a community, so they constantly strive to be surrounded by other people.

The biggest problem for Aquarius-born is the feeling that they are limited or constrained. Because of the desire for freedom and equality for all, they will always strive to ensure freedom of speech and movement. As Lagertha said, Ragnar hates being king with all the responsibilities and burdens. It restrains him. In his final moments he thought of the simple life as a farmer.

Floki: Scorpio/Aquarius

I confess that this one was hard. I mean, he has traits from Scorpio and Aquarius.

There is probably no more mysterious sign than that of Scorpio. Highly sensitive and extraordinarily secretive, there is a depth to Scorpio that is unfathomable. Scorpio is a water sign, meaning it is driven by its emotions. Whereas Cancer is the water sign associated with the shore line where earth meets ocean, Scorpio is associated with underground water. ​

An Aquarian is often creative and highly intellectual. Those born under this sun sign are often honest, loyal and independent in nature. On the negative side, some Aquarians can be unpredictable and somewhat detached.

Floki kills Athelstan out of jealousy, his action is out of pure emotion, even though he wants to justify them by the religious aspect. The fact is that seeing his best friend so close to another person, was driven him crazy. We can see the genuine happiness when Ragnar says that he loves Floki. Another obscure aspect is that we don’t know if Floki is the next Seer of if he is Loki in disguise.

Every time I try to get a picture of Horik, he just stops whatever he's doing and hangs there, limp in the water, like "If I don't move, maybe she'll go away."
