🐎Introducing WildHerds🐎
🌾 A cozy 2.5D life sim where you begin your journey as a wild mustang foal, born into a living, breathing herd across vast, open lands. Will you grow into a strong lead stallion, raising a legacy of powerful offspring? A gentle nomad forging your own path and fighting for survival? Or perhaps a wise lead mare who protects her herd through harsh winters, never losing a single foal under her watch?
From building a tight-knit family in the plains to leading a massive herd of descendants across generations, your story is yours to shape.
🌿 Explore dynamic, seasonal biomes teeming with native plants and animals. Graze, drink, socialize, and grow while navigating realistic survival challenges: predators that stalk the weak, harsh weather that slows your herd, and illnesses that spread if not cared for. Horses learn and evolve, passing on traits like unique coat patterns, herd instincts, and special abilities to their foals.
🐎I'm Looking for Passionate Collaborators!
WildHerds is being developed in Godot, and is currently in pre-Kickstarter development. This game aims to feel good to play. I want realistic movement, meaningful gameplay, and mechanics that make you want to start a new herd all over again
You don’t need to be a coder! Any contribution is appreciated and I’m more than happy to teach you simple dev tasks if you're new to game development and want to learn!
Currently looking for:
Writers (events, lore, npcs)
Concept Artists (biomes, UI, creatures, npcs)
Pixel Artists (tilesets, animated sprites, decorative assets)
Discord mods and admins
This project is a passion fueled tribute to old school DOS animal sims mixed with modern management browser games. The goal is to develop a clear roadmap, a working demo, and eventually launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund full development. If you're excited about the idea of donating your time to a heartfelt wild horse project, I’d love to hear from you!
Leave a comment below or send me a message if you’re interested in joining the herd. I respond faster on discord: @elenoh
Want to read more? Here's a google doc with a small 10 page wiki about the game!: https://docs.google.com/document/d/171s17deMNuoK2aVQwBUSBqgGvuJmSe5uKfYIi0qdM6M/edit?usp=sharing

back in the day (so like between the ages of 13-17) I used to play a ton of this online game called Howrse, which is basically a social + competitive horse care and breeding game (it's still around and I still have one of my old accounts but sadly not my OG account) and I could ramble about it for hours because it's genuinely really fun, but the one thing I'm remembering right now is unicorns and how they work in the game. they exist and you can breed them but (if you're not paying real money to increase your chances) they're exceptionally difficult to breed. with unicorns, you have exactly one real minute (so 60 seconds) as a window of time where you can breed them and have a 1 in five chance of successfully producing a unicorn foal (if you're not successful you just get a regular foal of whatever breed the parents are). and my gosh do i miss the adrenaline rush of unicorn breeding times. nothing has felt so high-stakes as that did to 14-year-old me.
Can I request some nice nature or el condor pasa? Ty!
