How do they horrortale bros act when sick?

A very good question! Their health is already questionable, so when they get sick it’s a pain.

Horrortale Sans- If he had it his way, you wouldn’t even know he was sick. Skull tries really hard to push through it, but his body just won’t let him. He ends up out of commission for a few days. During that time, he’s basically falling over any time he tries to do something. For being such a lazy bones, he’s suddenly very motivated when he’s sick. He’ll push himself until he collapses and sleeps for a couple days, but it’s best to convince him to rest before that happens. He’s very lovey while he’s sick, so promising to nap with him is an easy solution.

Horrortale Papyrus- Getting sick drives him crazy. He’s already impatient with his physical limitations from his time in the Underground, so being sick and being further impaired for however long is torture. To his credit, he still does everything right. He rests, he takes medicine, he has soup and tea, and really does whatever he can to get better faster. He just hates it. It’s much better when he has someone to spend time with while he’s not feeling well, otherwise he spends the whole time feeling pretty worthless.

Horrortale Gaster-

You’d think a gust of wind would kill this guy. Sure, Batty is pretty frail to begin with, but he’s an absolute drama queen when he’s sick. He won’t want to leave his bed, he’ll complain about aching and being tired, he’ll grumble about taking medicine, the whole ordeal. He’s fine. Just give him a couple days to rest, make sure he has something to eat, and he’ll be good to go. He just wants some attention when he’s not feeling great. (If his partner is available, he’ll not-so-subtly mention how nice it would be to have company/cuddles/affection while he’s sick)

oOOOOoooOOOOHH NO!!!!! He’s quickly helping you back up and oh, oh you need healed you are leaking the liquid. Known as blood. That’s very important for your body. And the living thing? You are unconscious you can’t hear him. He’s healing you up, and YAY!! Crisis averted! You’re alive!! After some time, you wake up, and tell him about what happened. D: THAT’S TERRIBLE!!! For some reason his brain didn’t really connect the dots of bleeding, means some sort of bad event happened until you explained. Side effects of the void, you suppose.

OH FUCK. He’s afraid, but he’s reacting with aggression, as an underground monster does. He’s running over to heal you and oh fuck you’re still alive thank god. He’s setting you up on the couch. When you wake up, he’s gotten you covered up with a blanket, and has a glass of water by you. You tell him about what happened. You... You got stabbed and just. Finished walking home??? LORD, you’re gonna be the death of him.. He gives you a tight hug though.

Oddball

Last he checked humans don’t just LEAK BLOOD. WHO DID THIS TO YOU-oh shit you’re unconscious. Healing first questions later!! He’s getting you healed up, and setting you up on the couch, and making sure you’re still breathing and have a heart beat. check and check! You’ll live another day! He figured you would, but, he’s gotta double check just to be sure. It’d be bad if he didn’t. He’d rather not think about what would happen if you died. Once you wake up and explain, he’s got a worried brow and a frown. No wonders you came home bleeding. you were STABBED.

Worrywort

AAAAAAA, he keeps healing items and the like at the door, so he’s able to act incredibly fast to healing you. He’s having an internalized panic attack. His brain just, swirling, and spiraling. And then you wake up, and he’s sudden snapped out of it. You’re safe. You’re okay. Its okay. You lived. You explain to him what happened. Welp, I hope you’re prepared to have a lot of access to things like mace or pepperspray. Because he will get you all of that sort of things. He’s gonna need to hold you for awhile after all this too. 

Eerie

!!!! is the only thing in his mind, as he hurriedly comes to your side. You need healing, and he’s administering it to you right away. He doesn’t want to move you, in case he hurts you, he probably wouldn’t but he wants to be extra sure. He stays at your side, until you wake up. “Are you alright?” You wave it off like it was nothing, and explain that you were mugged. “That.. That isn’t nothing?” He helps you up off the floor and brings you to the couch, and just. Holds you. He just hopes it doesn’t happen again. He might not be able to stop anything next time.

How about the Horrortale bros' d&d classes?

Skull is a powerful (wild magic subclass) barbarian. His magic goes completely out of control when he’s mad, hurting nearby enemies, friends, and occasionally himself. Of course, he has proficiency with an axe and is generally someone you don’t want to meet on the battlefield. He lost his bard class in the same moment he lost his quick wit. A particularly heavy blow to the skull took both from him at once.

Spook is a rogue with a level or two in druid. Previously a fighter class, he now blends in seamlessly with forested areas and only attacks when provoked. You wouldn’t even know he’s watching your every move from the trees unless he decides you’re dangerous. He’s definitely been the subject of a few “tall” tales that kids tell their folks after getting too close to the woods. He doesn’t ever hurt them, preferring to scare them away from the shadows. The woods are dangerous after all, just look at who lives there.

Dingbat was a cleric, but has since been upgraded (or demoted, depending on who you ask) to a necromancer. Don’t tell him that though, he just thinks he’s really good at healing. Besides, if he’s bringing back fellow skeleton monsters, is there really a difference?

This one I wasn’t super sure on at first.

Definitely a Gaster look of some kind. I wanted to say Dingbat for this one, but it’s almost got some vampire vibes too, so I though Grawlix and Obelus could also probably pull this one off.

After more consideration though, I think this would suit Equinox the best. Give it a bit of a galaxy theme and some sort of cape and he’d wear this to the grocery store.

how long does it take for a best friend/SO to unlock the tragic backstory? for me it takes at least 2-3 years before I let anybody aboard the Trauma Train Headed To Feels Town but what's the incubation time for the skelebois? how long does it take to build that trust?

First of all: aw im glad you like it! Second: this is a big prompt, so I’m just going to pick some of the skeletons whose answers to this are different than you might expect at a glance.

Underswap Sans- Wh- What? Tragic backstory? Hehehe, no, psh- no way.

Yeeah, it’s going to take a long time for Blue to tell anyone anything. Most of the friends Blue makes on the surface will never know about his real past. A romantic (or platonic) partner is likely the only person (other than his brothers, and a select few monsters) Blue would feel the need to tell. Trust is the key to a good, lasting relationship and that is something he takes seriously. A best friend might have a slim chance of learning some of Blue’s secrets, but they would have to be Blue’s very, very best friend.

So it will take a long time. But trust has no linear measurement. It depends on the person more than anything else.

Horrortale Gaster- It varies. It could take a few years or it could take a few months. His story is arguably less dark than his brothers’ since he wasn’t in the Underground during the… stuff that happened…

If Batty is well-settled into his current living situation, then he’ll be fairly open about his past to his close friends and/or his partner. If there is anything particularly stressful happening in his life, he won’t want to talk about it. He doesn’t the need extra stress from remembering.

Underfell Papyrus- Edge, like Blue, has a strong opinion on trust, particularly in relationships. If Edge is considering true friendship or romance, he’s going to be very straightforward about his past. It’s no secret that the Underground was bad, but few monsters have as many bad stories about it as Edge.

That said, Edge doesn’t like to lie to his friends. He will likely tell them some of his backstory early on, omitting how he actually feels about said backstory. In other words, Edge will tell them about his reputation as “The Great and Terrible Papyrus”, but not about how much it hurt him.

Oh, ok! For those who didn’t see the other ask, the question is “Is there any way to piss off Batty?”

And the answer is yes! It just doesn’t happen often. Unlike Gaster, Dingbats is more likely to get sad or anxious than angry. He’s soft-spoken too, so even if he did get angry, you likely wouldn’t hear him say anything about it. With that in mind, “pissed off” is a level of anger that is almost unheard of for him. But if you hurt his brothers, you’ll see it. Hell, if you hurt anyone without a very good reason, you’ll see another side of Batty. Last time something like that happened, he was trapped in the void. He won’t sit by and do nothing anymore.

I kinda stopped answering prompts for a bit there, but im back at it! (i’ve been more sleep deprived than usual having trouble falling asleep before 3am and have been waking up in the afternoon, so uh.. haven’t felt like writing)

And I’m not sure if you were just separating ht sans and paps from gaster, or if you wanted the three horrortale skelebros plus classic gaster, so i’m going to give you all four skels. Anyway, here you go!

😎 How do they impress their s/o?

Horrortale Sans- He doesn’t? Or at least he doesn’t try to. He once considered attempting to impress them by intimidating some other random humans, but he didn’t want to inadvertently scare s/o. Plus that seemed kinda mean. If he does anything that impresses them, it’s probably by accident.

Horrortale Papyrus- With gifts, of course!! Spook is particularly good at showing affections through gifts or doing things for s/o. Typically these are small things, but every now and then, he does his best to throw together something extravagant for them! “Extravagant” for him could mean a romantic, homemade, candle-lit dinner, or a hand-stitched quilt, or anything in between! He puts a lot of effort into things for his partner.

Horrortale Gaster- He has absolutely no interest in impressing his s/o. That isn’t to say that he doesn’t put forth effort, because he does! It’s just that he doesn’t feel the need to put in extra effort to “impress” them if it involves doing something he wouldn’t normally do. For example, he could use an extraneous amount of magic to display his attacks, which many would consider impressive based on control and aim, as well as the sheer amount of attacks he can summon at once. But it would likely land him in the hospital due to his numerous medical problems and magic instability.

He hopes his s/o won’t do anything unnecessary to impress him either. He doesn’t need them to be impressive. He just wants them to be who they are. Hopefully they feel the same in regards to him, because he doesn’t have the capacity to really be impressive in any sense of the word.

Undertale Gaster- This nerd tries really hard to impress s/o at the beginning of their relationship. And by beginning, I mean the very beginning. As in, before he even realized he was attracted to them. As much of a dork as he is, Dings is very professional when it’s called for. This means that when he first met s/o, he was very polite, but almost in the way a retail worker is to a customer. After knowing them for a little longer, he unintentionally starts talking more like a professor and will very happily answer any questions about his work.

He doesn’t quite notice until after entering a relationship with s/o, but the reason he had been so happy to infodump about his work was that he could show off his intelligence. He’s embarrassed that he didn’t catch it before, but even more embarrassed when he mentioned this to his brother, who said “wait, you did that on accident? i just figured you thought s/o liked smarts.”

Apparently he was the only person who hadn’t noticed he was doing it. Even s/o had wondered if he was intentionally showing off, but they didn’t care to say anything.
