Day 1473: July 29, 2018 Indian Echo Caverns This cave is located beneath Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, partway between the larger towns of Harrisburg and Hershey. It has been shown commercially since the 1920s. It's not huge but we had a great (if wet) tour from a friendly guide with a heavy German accent. The rains of the prior few days left the cave very drippy, furthering the process of making new stalactites. The cave also served as the home of one William Wilson for nineteen years, from 1802 until his death in 1821 (possibly from cumulative smoke inhalation as there was nowhere for his fires to vent). Wilson chose to withdraw from society following the execution of his sister for the murder of her two sons. The guide refused to tell us that story because he said it had once "made an entire girls volleyball team cry" but I looked it up on Wikipedia anyway. Hummelstown, Pennsylvania
