I’ve been saying Hunter’s identity as a Grimwalker and his willingness to keep it hidden is queer coded and an analogy as “coming out” which was only further cemented in Thanks To Them.

Hunter is a kid who lived in highly abusive conditions, he didn’t live up to the expectations of his parental figure and ended up running away due to not being accepted.

The only other person who knows his secret keeps quiet and is respectful about it and accepts him into her family with other lgbt+ queer people and various people with miscellaneous identities and backgrounds.

If that doesn’t sound a queer coded story I don’t know what is.
