"The Berserker's Swoon."
There is a physiological cost to "Beast Mode."
The Norse Sagas describe the aftermath of the Berserkergang (The Berserker's Path). It wasn't glory; it was sickness. The warriors would fall into a state of extreme weakness, sometimes lasting for days. It was a "debt" paid for the manic energy they spent.
Modern hustle culture tries to sell us the Berserkergang without the Swoon. They tell us to be 100% intense, 100% of the time.
But the sustainable warrior archetype is the Huscarl.
The Huscarls were the King’s Guard. They were defined not by how loud they screamed, but by how unbreakable their formation was. They operated at a sustainable, lethal level of competence.
Rage is a resource, and it runs out. Discipline is a practice, and it replenishes itself.
