Lightning x Aqua - Lost
post canon, Lightning is absolutely lost.
He’s found himself in the one timelime that he couldn’t envision. The one where everything works out fine but it’s not fine because it’s not want he wanted.
He spends a lot of time talking about his feelings to Aqua and she listens, very tenderly, very gently and helps him find his truth
Inspired by her words, Lightning hopes to reconnect with Jin and bring some good in the world and he would very much like it if Aqua could help him with that.
Perhaps even take over as leader as he feels he needs to work his way up. No more lies, no more falsehoods, no more insecurity. He’ll just build himself up and learn to love himself for who he is, no matter how incomplete or imperfect he is and try to heal the hurt that he’s caused
Aqua is very proud of Lightning’s convictions and she would be more than willing to help him do that. Under her leadership, the Ignis are not lost at all. She helps guide them all home...

Aqua and Lightning - Balance
requests: open again
forming their duo as Leader and Sub Leader, Lightning found, was a mix of balance. He, himself, was still solidifiying who he was in the group whereas Aqua found her place almost straight away. He didn’t deny the identity that his kin gave him, of the superior leader, but he was always terrified that they would notice something was amiss
but then again. the Earth Ignis was dull, the Wind and Dark Ignises were too flighty, and the Fire Ignis was pacified by the mere mention of authority. It should be easy.
easy except for one. The Water Ignis with her talent for determining the truth.
Lightning always had to be careful around her. Decisive yet indecisive. he never told her the whole truth, he never alluded to any of his deeper feelings, he kept her at arm’s length despite her insistence they would work better closer
but I like to think he “messed up” one time. well before it all and gave too much truth to his feelings and Aqua consoled him, making him revile such affection; she petted him, soothingly, told him sweet things in earnest and he hated it. it made him feel pitiful yet all the electricity inside of him jumped at it; for lack of a better way of saying it, if they had been human in that moment, his heart would have pounded
but he has no heart

Lightning x Aqua - Tradition
requests: still open
“Hello Jin, Lightning, how are you two feeling today?” Miyu asked as she let herself into the hospital room.
“I’m well, thank you.” Jin said. He propped up his wrist so that Lightning could contribute to the conversation as well.
“Jin’s vitals are stable and I’m doing nothing unusual, myself.” Lightning replied.
“Cold and clinical, as ever.” Miyu sighed. “Anyways, happy Valentine’s Day, you boys.”
“Huh?” Jin blinked.
Miyu sat down at the chair at Jin’s bedside. She then produced a few chocolate bars from her jacket.
“I pinched ‘em from the vending machine, I hope you guys don’t mind.” Miyu said.
“It was my idea.” Aqua piped up as she clambered out of Miyu’s Duel Disc. “I’ve always wanted to participate in this human tradition. I think it’s adorable.”
“Ah. So obligation chocolate?” Jin said.
“Yep.” Miyu said. “I told Yusaku, Takeru, and the others visit later so I can give them vending machine chocolate as well since I’m not allowed to leave yet and am under “observation” so I can’t even get you boys premium convenience store chocolate.”
“It’s the thought that counts. Thank you, Miyu.” Jin replied as he took one of the chocolate bars off Miyu.
“Do you want some as well, Lightning?” Aqua asked, all too eager.
Jin shot Lightning a sharp look. Lightning sighed. Being the pet in the relationship was not his style but alas, that is what it had come to. so, he relented.
“Very well, Aqua. Thank you.” Lightning said as he received chocolate from Miyu on Aqua’s behalf.
“No, thank you, Lightning.” Aqua replied, cheery.
Lightning x Aqua - Excuse
requests: paused til I finish this batch (6/7)
With Playmaker’s win, it seemed that everything would be right in the world. As per his promise, Lightning released all the prisoners that he had taken - had deleted - throughout the arc and his expansion and he subsided.
Jin reunited with Shoichi, they both reunited with Playmaker, Spectre reunited with Revolver, Blood Shepherd reunited with Ghost Girl, Windy reunited with Flame, Blue Maiden reunited with Akira, but Aqua chose not to reunite with Blue Maiden. Instead, she marched herself over to Lightning and slapped him. Her hand gracefully swatted across his lemon yellow face and she glowered.
“What the heck was that?!” she yelled.
Lightning’s eyes bulged with guilty intentions as he nursed his cheek. “War.”
“No, what you did to your Origin - and Windy, don’t even try to play innocent, you are next on my list, mister!”
Windy shivered and Flame kept a close eye on him for Aqua’s sake. Aqua’s arm flung back to where Jin and Shoichi were talking. It seemed that now that he was divorced from his body and from Lightning’s control, he was up to talking and moving in ways that he was not otherwise afforded.
“There are no excuses for what you have done over the course of these past few weeks, Lightning. I am severely disappointed in you.” Aqua continued.
“Understandable, but it was per the duty of being the leader of our troupe of Ignis.” Lightning replied.
“And as sub-leader, it is duty to tell you that you are incorrect and dismissed! I am instating myself as the full leader until you prove to us that you can be trusted to listen to the group and act with the best intentions for all of us. Because I most certainly did not consent to being absorbed by your AI program, Bohman.” Aqua continued.
“I was acting out of our best, communal interests… but duly noted. I resign as leader until I restore faith amongst us.” Lightning sighed.
Aqua nodded. “Thank you very much. And, just know,” she continued, she nuzzled up against his face and caressed his cheeks, even the sore on which she slapped, “I do all of this because I care. I also apologise for hitting you but I was just overcome with emotions and I let it get the better of me. As the full leader, I recognise I deserve to be punished for such a faux-pas.”
“No, no, it’s fine, Aqua. I deserved it, admittedly.” Lightning replied.
Aqua x Lightning - Prize
requests: paused until this batch is finished (2/4)
this fic is based on a scene in the Pacthesis Game, Number Days
“Alright, alright, everybody roll up, roll up,” the Dark Ignis said and he then pulled back a curtain made of some large leaves and twine. “Look what I made.”
The other Ignis were excited as the curtain fell back, eyes widening and bristling with curiosity, until what was revealed stunned them. They had no idea what it was. Or what it was supposed to be. Some boxes were set up and there were some objects on the boxes but it didn’t really resemble anything.
“Um… what is it?” the Water Ignis asked.
“It’s an arcade!” he said, throwing his hands in the air. “I made games for us to play. The idea is to use these balls to knock down as many of my items as you can. you get three chances. And each item is worth different points, as labelled on the bottom - very responsible of me. It’ll be easy.”
“Aw, that’s very sweet, but not my speed though. I think I would prefer playing, um, creatively. Yes, creatively, that’s the word!” the Water Ignis said.
“i’m not interested.” the Light Ignis bluntly announced.
“At least watch, please?” the Dark Ignis begged. “What about you guys?”
“I would like to try.” the Earth Ignis said.
“Myself as well, it would be ill to turn down a challenge.” the Fire Ignis said.
“I think I’ll watch… More fun for me if you guys fail.” the Wind Ignis teased.
“Thank you so much, for your vote of confidence.” the Dark Ignis huffed, sardonic. “Besides, I only need three players anyway. So it’ll be me, the Fire Ignis, and the Earth Ignis.”
“We’ll step back and watch then.” the Water Ignis said, blithely.
“And make sure that our darling ringmaster isn’t cheating.” the Wind Ignis interjected.
“I would never!” huffed the Dark Ignis.
“We’ll watch.” the Light Ignis said.
The three Ignis who were playing stepped up to their respective set of boxes. The other three watched but the Wind Ignis had already grown bored with the game. And it hadn’t even started yet.
“Let’s make bets on who wins.” he suggested.
“That could be interesting…” the Water Ignis mused.
“A bet involves a gamble. Something to win or lose. A prize.” the Light Ignis said.
“Hm…” the Wind Ignis mused. “I know, why not a kiss. Whoever bets right gets to kiss the fellow gambler of their choice.”
“That is a terrible idea.” the Light Ignis said.
“Yes, exactly, but… but I’ll do it.” the Water Ignis said, her tone agreeable.
The Light Ignis sighed. “Very well, I consent as well. I would like to place my bet on the Fire Ignis.”
“The Earth Ignis.” the Water Ignis very quickly said.
“Ah fuck, I get the Dark Ignis…” grumbled the Wind Ignis.
But the bet was sealed. So, they watched as their respective gambles played. It was actually good fun. The task was more difficult than they thought it would be and based on how the Dark Ignis was playing, it was more difficult than he thought it would be as well.
However, once the final ball was thrown, the Dark Ignis then scrambled to count up everyone’s points and he was disappointed to learn that he had come dead last. It was the Fire Ignis who had gathered the most points thanks to his strategic plays and the Earth Ignis had come second using his brute strength. With the Fire Ignis crowned as the winner amongst the players, it followed suit that the Light Ignis was crowned the winner amongst the gamblers.
The Light Ignis stroked his chin. “Very well, for my prize, I choose the Water Ignis.”
“R-Really?’ the Water Ignis stammered.
“Really?” the Wind Ignis huffed.
“Really.” the Light Ignis confirmed.
He sauntered in closer and pecked the Water Ignis’ cheek. Her skin discoloured briefly, a turquoise coloured blush and she giggled. The Wind Ignis huffed and the players were very, very confused as to why the Light Ignis was suddenly kissing the Water Ignis. Though the Earth Ignis wasn’t so much confused as he was sulky and the Dark Ignis did attempt to console his friend, but his consolation was tinged with some jealousy as well.
