many people won't understand now, what I'm gonna write, but will write it anyway.

once a <serious> IP becomes kid-centered, and meme'd, it's over. it's actually over.

you can make the most serious, emotional, mature, symbolical story, which makes mature people cry. once the kids meme it, you've lost all it's seriousness and meaning.

great example is the now merch franchise fnaf, a story about a child killer and it's victims, who take revenge. people are unable to understand the weight of murder, and the weight of similar topics, originally discussed in the first games. fnaf is now a weightless, even officially meme'd merch-centered slop.

and I'm afraid, HN will follow, even though this IP is much more complex and better built than the bear game.

we have the matpat meme, tinybuild's fault(they're also at fault at how they market HN on tiktok), but more twitter's, because if it wasn't HN, noone would gaf that matpat got pinged 3 times by someone, in posts. and now we have this artwork (by ukalayla) which I'm seeing as <non-hn fan> people's pfp and sent in tiktok / insta comment replies, under completely unrelated videos, such as serious real life news topics.

I'm not sure how to voice my worry properly, but it worries me, because the world is slowly drifting away from taking certain topics (fictional setup or not) seriously and just makes fun of everything, and sends a robot bear image, or this one, as reaction. someone is an irl victim? someone got murdered? here's these x meme images with 7457865742 likes! and that's it.

for long time, HN and some others are tools that can be meme'd, and not IP's that people discuss the depth of.
