Unpopular opinion:
I don’t think Claire and Jim will have kids (by adoption or biologically) because I don’t think Claire wants kids.
I think Claire is the kind of person who has grown up expecting/assuming that she will have children someday, and so has never actively thought about whether she wants to, but after doing some soul-searching will realize she doesn’t actively want children.
If Jim actively wants kids, this could lead to a break-up, since “whether or not to raise a child” is one of the few issues that has to be a binary yes-or-no decision and does not have a ‘middle ground’ that can be compromised on.
Things I think could happen in the fifth season of She-Ra
If I understood right, Entrapta analysed that She-Ra was the only being capable of channeling the power of the Heart Of Etheria and that the sword was created to control She-Ra. This means Adora can transform into She-Ra again, without the sword, if she can figure out how.
Catra and Glimmer having parallel storylines, trying to make themselves and those under their command ‘useful’ enough for Horde Prime not to destroy. Or maybe just Glimmer getting an arc to that effect which parallels Catra’s rise through the Horde’s ranks in earlier seasons.
Catra sneering at Adora for being mad at Glimmer for allying with Catra. “We’re on the same side again. Isn’t that what you’ve been begging for ever since you deserted?”
With Horde Prime’s main Etherian contact being Glimmer, the rebellion can’t use Bright Moon as a base of operations anymore, which isolates Glimmer further from her (former?) allies and friends.
Scorpia reunites Emily with Entrapta and the scene is adorable.
Bow finally gets to do tech stuff with Entrapta like he’s been wanting to, but it’s awkward because she keeps reminiscing about her time as Hordak’s lab partner.
Hordak loses his memory from the ‘re-conditioning’ that Horde Prime sentenced him to, and goes back to his original clonely designation. Entrapta meets him again and is devastated when he doesn’t recognize her or respond to his name. Her reaction, or possibly something else like her trying to get him to do experiments with her again and having a lab accident, brings back Hordak’s memories.
Season finale will involve a fight between Hordak and Horde Prime as Hordak asserts independence and acts out that trope where the one villain fights the other and saves the world because they want to take it over for themselves. (“I am not an extension of you! My thoughts are my own. My name is my own. My victories are my own. And my conquests are my own! This is MY PLANET!”)
More of Lonnie, Rogelio, and Kyle. I’ve really enjoyed how those characters have been developing.
On ships and potential ships
I am emotionally invested in Blinky/AAARRRGGHH being confirmed as a canon ship, but I’m also pretty sure I can be cool about it if that doesn’t happen. There is, after all, always fanfiction.
However.
If either (or both) of them ends up in a canon ship with somebody else, this other character had better be fully developed and they had better be ADORABLE together with AMAZING chemistry, (also, the other character had better be willing and able to step up as an additional parental figure for Jim or Toby, depending on which Troll Dad they’re dating,) otherwise it could end up feeling like the new ship was introduced for the sole purpose of denying BlinkAAARRRGGHH status as a canon ship.
I’ve been giving it some thought and I think ‘Wizards’ is going to air on New Years Eve
So it’ll still technically be 2019 like that first advertisement (the video clip of Eli recruiting Toby to search for aliens) claimed.
I have no evidence, I just feel like this is a thing that might happen.
EDIT: Winter technically starts on the Solstice (Saturday December 21st) so Wizards might air on Friday December 20th so it technically does air in fall as has been previously implied?
Either way I’m thinking it’s going to be a December thing if it really does come out before the 2020s.
Legacy
I think Jim's primary kenning or agnomen or whatever the troll term for it is, the name that goes down in trollish history, is going to be 'Jim the Generous'.
He gives and gives and GIVES (his time, his forgiveness, ultimately his human form and surface life, although I’m hoping he gets that back,) after his calling, and even before he became the Trollhunter, he spent a lot of his time devoted to other people. (Mostly his mother and best friend, but still.)
Also, the sound of ‘Jim the Generous’ is alliterative, and alliteration seems to be popular. Not universal, but popular.
In my fic, Becoming The Mask, I’ve got a scene loosely planned but nowhere pinned down in the timeline to stick it, where Jim wonders if being the first Changeling Trollhunter means he’ll ultimately go down in history as ‘Jim the Impure’.
“That’s not alliterative, though.”
“Actually, the letter ‘J’ was invented by accident based on the letter ‘I’. Back during medieval times. Calligraphy in illuminated manuscripts meant some of the ‘i’s got elongated and curlicued, and those were then copied and exaggerated, and eventually they started being treated as a separate letter.”
(As far as I know, this is true, but my source is “I remember reading it online once and it sounds plausible” so it might not actually be true.)
Based on patterns in previous Tales of Arcadia, here’s a list of what I think is likely to happen in Wizards Season 1. I like the Bingo card format but I find my guesses tend to be too wordy to be legible on the actual Bingo cards.
1) The talking cat wearing glasses will be a Siamese. All cats onscreen in ‘Tales of Arcadia’ so far have been Siameses.
2) Arcadia Oaks Academy will finally be an onscreen setting.
3) “Three Rules Of ___”
4) More Arthurian references.
5) Time Magic. Trollhunters Season 1 had time-stopping with the Kairosect in It’s About Time, and 3Below Season 1 had time-loops in D’Aja Vu.
6) Season 1 of Wizards will overlap with the most recently-released season of 3Below - meaning, if there hasn’t been Season 2 of 3Below yet, it will also overlap with Season 3 of Trollhunters. (My other theory is that it starts pre-Trollhunters Season 1, but that feels less likely.)
7) Shiny/glittery animation.
8) That one guy whose name I can never quite catch (Douce? Douxie? the one who invited Claire to the Battle of the Bands, and was a waiter, and used a guitar to take down a Gumm-Gumm) and his band are the protagonists.
9) Eli investigates.
10) An actual dragon. There have been dragon-like characters - the Stalkling and Buster - already, but let’s see an identified-as-such dragon.
11) Significant use of the colour blue, previously used for the Amulet of Daylight in Trollhunters and Akiridion tech in 3Below.
12) A power-struggle not connected to the other two series. General Morando was not relevant to Trollhunters, and Gunmar was only tangentially related to events in 3Below.
13) FREE SPACE
14) Fun new curse word, like ‘bushigal’ from Trollhunters and ‘kleb’ from 3Below.
15) Running joke on a series-specific branch of crude humour. Trollhunters had dick jokes, mostly related to Rule Number Three, and 3Below had poop and fart jokes mostly revolving around Luug.
16) Flashback sequences, possibly related to the time magic shenanigans previously speculated, of events centuries prior.
17) More magic rocks. Maybe Jim finally gets the sunlight-immunity stone for the Amulet, or we find out what the blue stone in the Amulet is.
18) Magician Toby! Toby’s interest in magic (which Trollhunters more or less dropped after Season 1 so the magic arcs could focus on Claire) is readdressed.
19) Obligatory Hetero Romance Arc for one of the new teenage protagonists. (For the record, I think Jlaire and Staja are cute; this is a prediction based on a trend, not a judgement of it.)
20) First name revealed for Coach Lawrence and/or Señor Uhl.
21) An attempt to make Merlin a more sympathetic character, either so it will feel like a twist instead of an obligatory when he’s confirmed as the Big Bad or to set up for a genuine redemption arc. (Obviously they’ll want to keep it ambiguous in the first season.)
22) Ley lines, based on an interview regarding why strange things seem drawn to Arcadia. (”Why Arcadia? What is it about this town that makes it a ley line for all this activity?” “It's funny you should mention that. That is something that we've always talked about in terms of intersectional ley lines. In fact, when Guillermo first pitched this idea that there's all these things happening in this one town, he said ley lines very specifically.” Den of Geek interviewing Marc Guggenheim about 3Below.)
23) Non-human disguised as human via shapeshifting or illusion magic.
24) Crossover episode with events of one or both previous Tales of Arcadia series seen from Wizards characters’ perspective.
25) Someone pulls a Heroic Sacrifice in the first season finale. AAARRRGGHH saved Toby in the Season 1 finale of Trollhunters and temporarily died, and Vex attacked the bounty hunter in the Season 1 finale of 3Below and got captured.
