I hate Windows 11 with a fiery passion
What do you mean, you used to connect to external monitors with no fanfare but now you have to zoom out, zoom back in, and play a noise, then wait two seconds before anything is usable again?
What do you mean you sometimes forget you have a graphics driver?
What do you meeeeean you can't remember your display settings even though it's set to remember?
Why are you doing this an hour before my PUBLIC ZOOM TALK that I want notes on a second monitor for?

Forcing updates should be illegal
Unfortunately I am stupid and I accidentally corrupted the Windows 10 installation 😭 and it was 100% my fault, I saw the signs and ignored them.
And what's worse, is that I'm reinstalling Windows 10 just to have it for a few more months. Because they're getting rid of support for it in October. So you'll move to Windows 11 to get MANDATORY SECURITY UPDATES. Such updates that are imperative for safety over the Internet using windows.
Now, Windows 11 is built exactly on top of Windows 10, just with bloated graphics and animations, and labyrinthian settings menus. But, 100% those VITAL SECURITY UPDATES would work on Windows 10. They can just choose not to, and they have, with many things.
For example, Windows has also deprecated in Windows 11 their VR portal software. Making user friendly VR on Windows PCs a thing of the past. Must be some deal with meta to sell Quests or whatever, cause now all the old PC headsets for windows won't work on Windows.
This is greed. This is planned obsolescence. They want nickels and dimes.
And all I want, is a simple, polished OS.
AND I MISS WINDOWS PHONES! I miss cool shit, I miss Cortana that Windows had, she worked! There used to be endeavours! There used to be cool new shit for niche interests and markets! And all whisked away for greed!! Time and time again! Sell to an average, sell to the most people you can!! It's never been about buying goods, it's always selling them.
It's exactly why every single car now is built on a cross-over chassis. Why there's no rainbow of colors for every item you can buy. Trucks are 8ft tall now because they don't want to have to pay and design to pass emissions requirements. Streaming services check ur IP to see if you're watching in the same place every time. Repairing shit just keeps getting harder and harder. And I'm sick and tired of everything about money.
The moment when you're about to post an update for your fic, but then the touchpad on your laptop decides that, naaah, why do you need to post anything on tumblr, so it just decides that it doesn't actually have a touchpad anymore? Like, the driver just vanished XD
It's all good, though. If anyone else ends up with a broken touchpad, uninstalling the last windows update works wonders.
