I’ve recently had a little revelation about Loki during the Avengers period. Maybe I’m late to the party, but here’s my takeaway:

If you remember in the very beginning of the movie, Loki was limping/having trouble walking. If not, here’s a gif-set taken from this post which also goes into detail about Loki’s pain in The Avengers.

Well, fast forward to Stuttgart Loki. Not only was that a whole look, but part of me feels like the cane was necessary and not just an accessory:

The reason I say this is because his limp from earlier reminds me of back pain and how crippling it can be without the help of a cane. In conclusion, I think that his cane was not only used for this badass scene:

...but also simply out of need.

The midseason Finale was the best episode so far. Malcom is so very much Not Okay. I wonder how long this series can run, because eventually Malcom must get significantly worse, or significantly better. If he gets significantly worse, he won’t be able to work cases as he’s doing now, so no procedural... at least not in the rhythm they’ve established. He’ll only get significantly better once the myth arc is resolved- and they honestly can’t stretch that out for more than two seasons. They shouldn’t, at least as long as Martin stays alive they have to resolve it. The only way they could not resolve the mystery is if Marting gets killed before they resolve what happened in 1998. Which would leave Malcom in limbo forever... but maybe on the road to recovery, because there is no knowing now. But that would leave us without a myth arc and source of Angst...

Of course I would love the visual if Malcom went into inpatient treatment and consulted from case files. That would work with the procedural, while making sure our boy stays as far away from danger as he possibly can.

In real life, crushes develop firstly from physical appearance and then further from the way the person acts or their personality, mainly things they do when around at least one other person (that other person being you).

Now, I cannot say much with real-life crushes - I have little to no experience of these, personally - but I can at least attempt to compare with our 'fictional' crushes.

Watching a show, film or anime, or reading a book, comic or manga, we generally follow one main-main character through their journey to do whatever in the story arc. In a well fleshed-out story, the lesser-main and sub characters will too be quite fleshed-out, though possibly not quite so much as the main-main character. Because of this fleshing, we see things that, had we too been characters in the story, we would most likely have not seen.

You've most likely heard about the 'little things people do when they think no one is looking'. Generally, we all have these things, though they're not always to be considered 'cute' or 'attractive'. These are usually subconscious things we find ourselves doing that we never think about doing - they just happen naturally. Say, for instance, you have a habit of licking your lips. You don't know why, and you usually don't think about it when you do it. It's a very common habit, so it usually goes unnoticed by other people.

In fiction, however, we tend to analyse things more carefully (unless you're just reading/watching for pleasure and you don't plan on picking up the book/show/etc. ever again, then you don't really analyse as much). Since we are seeing more from various characters, we can learn a lot more about the little things the character does, even if the character themselves does not notice these things.

I could reel off examples of the ways in which certain characters look at other characters, or how they scrunch their nose or furrow their brows or whatever before doing something. I won't though.

I feel that these little things that we see about these characters tend to pull us in, as they let us know more about the character and what they're like and if those little things they do are things you find 'cute' or 'attractive', then you know you've probably got it hard.

We humans, around other humans, don't tend to notice little things others do. We also tend to be quite different around certain groups of people; when alone, one may feel quite comfortable in dancing around the kitchen, singing at the top of their lungs. Around friends, they may still feel quite comfortable doing so, but may do it less. Around acquaintances or strangers, these little traits continue to show less and less until they're practically invisible.

This is why we like fictional characters, or at least, I think this is one of the reasons why we do. Because we see the little things, things that in real life we'd hardly ever notice. And that, my friends, can be our downfall into fictional crush-land.
