Bird armor for the bird wars

This is a Czekl hen wearing a gambeson made with spider silk, by far the strongest textile available in this setting. This material can only provide so much protection against piercing damage (and offers virtually none against blunt impact), but it is phenomenally strong for its weight, and thick, layered preparations far outclass any other non-metal material as armor. The helmet is boiled leather (much less protective, but a qilik's head is a smaller and more mobile target than that of a human) with a winged tzu ornament.
