Lo bueno de recordar es que con el tiempo todo esclarece, lo que se sentía como agua cristalina se vuelve un torbellino de agua sucia, contaminada por realidades a las que me negue a ver, por eso cuando te recuerdo, lo hago de poco en poco, para que solo brille tu luz, esa luz tan linda y fugaz, que a diferencia de mi fuego, se agota si no le cambias las baterias.

#throwback re-edited version of one of my favourite pics I took of Uli. Tomorrow will be Valentine's Day & my mind goes back 2 years to the best VDay's present Uli gave me. He was slipping in and out of a coma at the time. As I'd been told by a cancer nurse that the last sense to go is hearing, I was sitting by his side talking to him quietly. I told him how much I loved him while stroking his poor, wasted arm. I told him how strong I was & that he didn't need to worry about me. That I was grateful for the wonderful life we'd had together, that I'd always love him. Suddenly he opened his eyes and smiled at me. He stretched out his arm & stroked my arm gently, I know you love me, he said, I love you very much too. Then he closed his eyes & remained in a coma for the rest of his few days remaining. There's a phenomenon called fetal microchimerism where some of the baby's cells pass through the placenta into the mother's body during pregnancy and become part of her tissue. Apparently, those cells can remain for decades, growing, multiplying and doing who-knows-what-else. Interesting, isn't it? That I could have male DNA from [I] inside my female body? That I may have a small part of each one of you lodged within me? It puts a whole new spin on one of my favourite E. E.
