Why am I not writing new ficlets in exchange this time?
I can't do this with any reliability right now due to IRL circumstances. Also, times have changed:
When I posted about ICE a few wks ago, 99.96% of my followers did not engage. Yes, I did the math. I felt the urge to leave, like many people have been. Instead, I started privating my fics. I had been warning everyone.
If you want a writer around, show it when we post about something important to us. Especially something as non-controversial as innocent people murdered in the street by the government. Please?
Every fic takes care and effort, and it's a two-way street. Rest assured, if you newly start interacting or come back from a long break, I will embrace you with open arms. I won't shame you or hold it against you. Some of my best friends on here are former lurkers 🌷

Given the state of tumblr, I can't guarantee posts will be unprivated forever on tumblr, but it'll be more than long enough to rb on your own blog with tags so you can keep it, and you'll at least be able to reach them on ao3 again.

It has been a couple weeks and I have not recovered from what the Texas Icepocalypse did to my garden and fruit trees T_T truly did not think it would get That Damn Cold. some of those potted trees were almost as old as this blog and went through a few moves and catastrophes already ... Well I guess I should count my blessings it wasn't a true apocalypse and I can still go to a nursery and scrounge around for replacements.
- Rolling Blackouts mean a limited window to eat and attempt to get warm (houses rarely rising above 50 degrees)
- Having no internet, so walking over a mile in ice and snow to get to campus wifi
- being scared to walk to campus because people are driving too fast on slippery roads covered in snow and ice
- access to wifi is essential because professors aren’t extending due dates
- Being worried you won’t get paid because you can’t get to work, which means you can’t pay rent or buy food
- not showering because there is no hot water even when there is electricity. This leads to worse mental health
- Those with heat are offering to cramp people into their dorm rooms because campus is the only place safe from the blackouts
- Lines for food at the dining halls are over 30 minutes long
- Apartments and dorms are flooding and collapsing because they weren’t built for this extreme weather, forcing hundreds to relocate and losing their stuff
- knowing you won’t get any compensation for lost belongings
- STILL STRESSING ABOUT ASSIGNMENTS IN THE MIDDLE OF A WINTER STORM AND PANDEMIC??
- Those professors that are communicating with students are simply saying we will have to catch up after the school brings back classes.
- Having to hear people shitting on our state because we are “red,” but not having any empathy for the millions suffering, including the large percentage that voted blue. The color of a persons state shouldn’t mean they are less in need of support. And this is coming from a liberal.
Please have empathy during these times, while also realizing that there are causes for these problems because people have their priorities in the wrong place. Act to change the causes going forward, but don’t blame those currently suffering. We don’t have control over the system, because no matter who we vote for, rich people will be in power and will make choices that benefit them and their class first.
