Headcannons of Hiccup hiding a shoulder injury!

*this is set between HTTYD 1 and HTTYD 2*

Lets start with how Hiccup got injured *cough cough CLUTZ cough cough*

He probably got injured either by trying to fight some dragon trappers....or just trying to try new tricks with Toothless

It most likely is idea one, since we can see Hiccup exploring more and trying to find more dragons/expand his map he made

I don't think he got injured by one of Drago Bludvist's trappers *if this takes place closer to the end of movie one*, but if it IS closer to the second movie, this is the most likely option

Hiccup was most likely grazed by one of the darts the trappers shoot out, and since it was only a graze, he would not pass out, only get sluggish and dizzy

Toothless would notice immediately and fly back to Berk, trying to fly steady so Hiccup did not fall off

Once they got back to Berk, Hiccup told Toothless to go to their hut, not Gothi *the village elder* because he did not want to be considered weak for needing help *facepalm*

He would sleep most of the side effects off, but I kid you not, the wound would get infected since Hiccup is only a teen and can't clean wounds properly

He would try his hardest to hide the injury, but knowing Astrid (this is Hiccup x Astrid, just like in the movies), she would get suspicious when he can't even hold a sword without his arm shaking or going limp (he was shot on his dominant arm)

Stoic wouldn't notice since he is chief and all, but also since he doesn't spend much time with his son sadly

after the first week, Hiccup was having cold sweats and a very high fever *remember these darts are for DRAGONS y'all, not humans*

He tried to get up, but NOPE! His head pounded against his skull and he blacked out when he sat up too quickly

Poor Toothless thought he was dying, and he rushed to find Astrid

Once he found her (she was training), he dragged her to Hiccup's hut, whining the whole way

She opened the door, only to find Hiccup unconscious with VERY bloody bandages and a swollen shoulder. She looked around and found some rubbing alcohol (ouch) and bandages

So what did she do? She propped him up so she could reach his shoulder better, and slowly, oh so slowly undressed the crappy bandages

She gagged at the sight of the swollen and obviously infected wound

She cleaned it with the alcohol and bandaged it tightly (tighter than a corset lol, shocked Hiccup didn't wake up), swearing on Odin that the bandage better stay put. She only wondered why her boyfriend hide this for so long.....She tucked him back into bed and rushed to find Stoic, most likely to explain what happened

And Toothless? Poor dude was resting his head on the side of the bed, whining every time Hiccup whimpered in pain or sucked in a harsh breath

I also head cannon that Toothless has become VERY overprotective of Hiccup after the fiasco of HTTYD 1. He def sees Hiccup as weak (mainly since he now has the prosthetic, and I am not saying having a prosthetic is bad, but it is seen as a weakness to dragons) and this makes Toothless worry over his rider excessively. He even growled at Stoic after he visited Hiccup later that day, trying to see if his son was okay. Poor Toothless would lick the bandages as if it would heal the wound

When Hiccup woke up, let's just say his 1700 pound cat pounced on him.....yeah Hiccup is gonna be okay
