This was actually requested before I opened up the round two of my starter prompts today— but was requested when I opened up requests. So I thought I’d just do it now ;D
10 — “There is a world out there just for you… but it doesn’t include me” — Count of St. Germain
“Please don’t make me go.” Your soft voice trembled, broken, shattered, and delicate, as you held onto his hand and begged him not to send you back. You had made up your mind to stay, but he wouldn’t let you. And that was because he had fallen in love, and to fall in love with a human was dangerous.
And for you to be here… was dangerous. This wasn’t your home, as much he wanted it to be. This wasn’t your time. This wasn’t the way for you to live. You didn’t deserve to be confided with a bunch of vampires, and to live in a time where danger is always lurking.
You deserved to continue your travels! All the stories you told him— what he thought to be adventures as he picked and plucked those to have their second chance at life as a vampire… they don’t hold a hair to the wonders you told him about.
He needed to let you go. And he needed you to let go. “There is a world out there just for you… but it doesn’t include me.” He released your hand, and though the look of utter shock that he was really letting go of you broke him, and his chest hurt, oh god, it really hurt. He still turned his back on you, leaving you at the door.
When he made it to the end of the hall, he heard the sound of the door closing. He looked behind, and you were no longer there. “Mon seul amour,” he whispered. My only love. He let the tears he was holding back finally fall. “If only I could say, in another life.”
