&& So I do keep in mind that your Capitano is more of a dad-figure!! (Although, of course if you’d like to adjust this, feel free to let me know!) I think it’d be an interesting concept. In my opinion, I think Scaramouche has always been the kind of person to assert himself to others. He demands a presence, some sort of acknowledgement to his greatness, but frankly, it’s kind of exhausting to have to fight for respect.

I don’t think Scaramouche has any particularly good influences/experiences with parental figures and/or men who think they’re hot shit just because he happens to appear young when he’s literally probably hundreds of years older than them.

However, on the flipside, I don’t think Scaramouche has ever been allowed, nor allowed himself, to be cared for like a child. He’s never had his ambitions or goals nurtured, and while now there are few things left that he can experience for the first time, he’d be embarrassed to be amazed by it with that sort of innocence of never having done something. (Like, jump around in puddles, run around in the snow, play with toys.)

What naivety he may have had in his younger years was long since stamped out by other people.

It’s interesting to me because I don’t think Scaramouche necessarily despises children? He finds them annoying (at times), but there’s a part of him that sees children experience a new thing with such profound joy that it makes him jealous and mournful all at once.

It’s a strange thing to be a centuries-old being that was never given the chance to properly grow. I think Capitano must tread a very careful line not to offend Scaramouche while he gives him the space to lend his trust and vulnerability. I want Scara to have the experience of a parent without being overly coddled like a child, because he isn’t. He just never had the opportunity to be one. ;
