Lots of work has gone into creating this city, which you can insert into your D&D campaign setting very easily.
Drakesguard is a city on the smaller side in terms of population, which can be explained principally because of the fact that it lies just on the edge of the territory of an ancient red dragon, and as such is attacked by her and her minions quite regularly.
In this 24-page PDF, you get everything you need in order to run an adventure in Drakesguard, and to have it integrated into your campaign setting as a whole. You get features such as:
Population demographics with NPC race and name generating guidelines
Explanations of the unique region around the city
Random encounters in the region around the city
Writeups on the city’s culture, history, and current events
In-depth explanations of the city’s major features such as its governing structure, religious structure, dragon attack shelters, and economic centers
2 taverns with rumors
Guidelines on how to run a session in which the dragon and/or her minions attack the city
An in-depth starter for a story arc in your campaign
Stat blocks for 5 new monsters
Stat blocks for 2 types of general NPCs specific to the city
Stat blocks and personality writeups for 6 major NPCs
5 magic items
1 artifact
Rules for a new type of material and weapons/armor made out of it
Countless adventure/story seeds
Here is just the table of contents:
Becoming a patron of just $1 or more per month gives you access to this city along with a number of other posts. If you’re apprehensive, I may suggest checking out the free cities I have also made, Bodrabod and Ilfreyel. If you like those, you’ll love Drakesguard.
For all y’all that have been regularly checking out my Patreon, you’ll know I’ve been working for several months now on another pre-prepared D&D city. The document is looking like it’s going to be 33 pages long, the biggest city I have made so far. I just wanted to give a little preview of it on here...
The Table of Contents alone is looking like it is going to stretch to 2 pages. The city has 12 different features that characters can interact with, one more fleshed-out quest, features monsters that are already available like the Leprechaun, Boggart, Odimence, and Spriggan, plus more premade NPCs than I have counted yet.
The document is rife with plot hooks that players and DM can take in so many directions, combat statistics are given for every major character *just in case*, the interactions between the governing bodies, the thieves’ guild, and a secret vigilante team are all detailed through the document. Rumors for each of the 3 taverns are listed out. There’s race tables for generating random NPCs, and encounter tables for when your people are travelling the area around. It’s gonna be a useful document, and it doesn’t try to shoehorn any lore outside of the city’s own so you can plop it right into the world you’ve been making.
It’s completely free my dudes. Coming December 22 to my patreon. I’ll be posting links on here later, but if you want to get it immediately, you could give my Patreon a follow (or a subscribe ;) ).
And if you want another free city to see what this whole thing is all about, here’s Bodrabod.
I'm just loving all these mischief fey that are going to be settled around Ilfreyel, so here you go, a product of Cornish mythology. Only consulted the mythology on it; similarities to other creatures in different games, if any are present, is unintentional.
Spriggans pair well with Odimences, which are coming out soon!
