Merlin literally cannot be honest about the most fundamental part of who he is, and yet when he's asked to write about love, the very first thing that comes out of him is this quiet, painfully sincere line about love being stronger than the walls separating two people. I know he was writing this for gwen on behalf of arthur but it is so insanely symbolic to me AAARGH

Sometimes, usually on Sundays nights, my brain likes to remind me all the time I am wasting and makes me count. Count how many months it’s been since the last time I went to a party (one year and seven months), last time I went to the cinema (almost three years), last time I went to dinner with someone who wasn’t part of my family (one year and nine months), last time I was out on a saturday night (can’t remember), last time I went on a trip without my family that wasn’t for school (never happened). And I just lay here instead of sleeping and thinking about the life I am not living and the pile of regrets I am dragging behind me and feeling guilty for something that I should be able to change but am not strong enough to change by myself. Feeling guilty for being anxious and for being shy and for being lonely and for being so broken I can’t ever connect to people enough, ever care about people enough, never get to know people enough. And it sucks.
