U seem to like vrains theories so do u think it's coincidence that yuya and yuma both had red eyes, and similar beliefs, (dueling isn't for revenge and similar), while yusaku (ten years have turned him into an envoy of revenge) has green eyes?
Well, if you’re asking me if I think the creators sat down after 5Ds and said: “the next two protagonists are going to have positive worldviews/red eyes, and the one after that will have a negative worldview/green eyes”, I would say no. In the absence of any confirmation that I’m aware of, I would guess they only start planning the next series during the last third of the current one.
So for example, I doubt Vrains was on anyone’s mind until the Fusion Arc (at the earliest). And Vrains just started, so I doubt YGO7 and beyond are being talked about at all right now.
But, it could have happened a bit more organically. It’s possible that when Yuya was being designed, he was given red eyes because he and Yuma “see” things the same. Out of all six protags Yuma and Yuya are probably most alike*, so why else use red eyes twice in succession unless it was to highlight similar worldviews?
And Yusaku’s outlook is radically different, so maybe he was given green eyes to signify that. It’d be one thing if he’d been given red eyes, or orange, or pink, or some other similar shade; but compared to red, green stands out. It’s different from what we had for the past 6 years, just like Yusaku is different. So it could’ve happened that way.
*I know someone’s going to say “but seasons 1&2 Judai” and I’m gonna stop you right there, because he developed out of that happy-go-lucky mindset in a pretty definitive way. Yuma and Yuya matured, but were still pretty sunny guys in the end. There’s a difference.
