Smiling should be easier. It should be easier for Roman to pretend that he was fine. He was an actor after all. He should have no problem pretending to be at ease with working with Janus.

But it wasn’t. Days, weeks went by and Roman had pretended that it was fine. And now it was too late for him to admit that he was struggling with what had gone down. He had brought himself in a pickle and was unable to get out of it anymore.

Frustrated he smashed his fist into the wall and let himself fall onto the ground. Let himself feel miserable in the privacy of his room.

“Ro?”

So much for privacy. Roman scrambled to his feet, meeting eyes if his brother who had unallowed entered his space.

“What is it? What do you want?” Roman asked defensively and turned away.

He didn’t see the dried tears under Remus’s eyes. He didn’t see the way Remus’s worry as he gathered how hurt Roman had looked just a moment prior. He didn’t see how Remus pushed his sorrows away and walked towards him to put a hand on his shoulder.

“You can talk to me about anything.”

“Hey, has Lish not left her room yet?” “She said ‘Plan E or whatever it was’ needed more work. She’s losing count, we’ve been doing this so often already.” Mitch replied. Lydia frowned.

“I’m worried for her.” “So am I. Maybe we should just leave her to it for now.”

Alicia Owens had been awake for 2 days, 7 hours and 46 minutes. She hadn’t been timing or anything but that was her estimate. She was scribbling ideas down in a notepad, 5 empty mugs of coffee beside her chair, her wings ruffled and hair a mess. She was plotting. Every single plan was different, but if succeeded, would all have the same result. The death of her childhood best friend, childhood crush and murderer: Fern Jackroad.

Her stubborn little friends thought she was after Fern for revenge. I mean, Fern killed her, so it made sense, right? Haha, wrong. No. It sounded silly, considering Fern didn’t remember her anymore, but Lish knew that Fern had liked her back (well, when Lish was alive). The two had just... never made it official. And Lish wanted her back.

Mitch said her obsession over getting Fern back was getting out of hand, but Lish didn’t believe her. I mean, yeah, Fern consumed the majority of her thoughts nowadays, and she’d somewhat memorised her routine, and she’d probably, let’s face it, kill everyone she knew if it meant Fern was hers, and...

Ok, so maybe she was a little bit too obsessed.

...if Fern learnt the truth... would she want her? Would she be upset? No, no, no, let’s face it: she’d be annoyed at Ivy. But that’s... it’s kinda twisted, to love your killer. But Lish loved hers, didn’t she? Lish put her pencil down, staring at the page of notepad.

“Lish? Lish? You’ve, um, been in there for hours. Are you coming out any time soon?”

“...no.” She said. She sounded like she’d been crying. Mitch frowned. “You sure? You don’t want, like, any more coffee or anything?” “No. Just leave me alone.”

Mitch sighed.

“Alright.”
