Pony talks a lot about Soc river bottom parties.
You know who was at those river bottom parties?
Darrel. As the bottom.
okay here me out on the Bob, Curly and Pony trio
definitely didn’t start because their big brothers are dating each other
Anyways here’s some incorrect quotes of them.
Ponyboy: Why doesn’t Curly find me sexy when I bite my lip? Bob: What do you look like when you bite your lip? Ponyboy: bites lip Bob: …Have you considered biting your bottom lip instead?
——
Curly: You need a hobby. Bob: I have a hobby! Curly: Jumping Ponyboy isn't a hobby.
——
Ponyboy: Well, Curly, is there anything you would like to say to Bob? Curly: How do I put this delicately? You’re a horrible roommate and nobody likes you. Ponyboy: How about we frame our statement with “When you do this, it makes me feel this”? Curly: When you live here, it makes me angry. Because you’re a horrible roommate and nobody likes you.
——
Bob: How are we supposed to put a tracker the size of a penny on Curly without them noticing? Ponyboy: Hey, Curly, I bet you 5 bucks that you can't swallow this penny. Curly: *takes and swallows tracker* Pay up, loser. Bob: ...
——
Ponyboy: If Curly and I were drowning, who would you save? Bob: You two can’t swim? Ponyboy: It’s a hypothetical question, Bob! Who would you save? Bob: My time and effort.
——
Ponyboy: Well, remember when Curly made a romantic dinner for me? Bob: Ponyboy, they microwaved you a pizza.
Headcanons about characters sexuality/gender/pronouns
Darrel "Darry" Curtis: Darry is a cisgender male; she is bisexual with a heavy masc preference; he uses he/him pronouns; sometimes she uses "she" but can't stand being called "her".
Two-Bit Mathews: I can honestly see Two being a transmasc guy, but I also see him being cis. It varies depending on the situation for me. Overall, I consider him a cisgender guy, but there are times where he's totally a trans male. He uses he/him pronouns, but (in the trans version) also uses she/her since he grew up with those and they don't bother him if used sparingly. Two-Bit is bisexual with a very, very heavy fem preference.
Dallas "Dally" Winston: Cisgender guy. I toy with the idea of him being trans sometimes, but only in my AUs, not in canon. He uses he/him pronouns. He's bisexual with fem preference.
Steve Randle: Steve is a cisgender male who uses he/him. At first, I think he was a bit homophobic, sine it was the 60s. And then he met Sodapop and was like "oh" and realized he's finsexual.
Sodapop Curtis: Soda is bisexual with no preference. She's genderfluid and uses he/she pronouns. Usually he has no preference, unless he feels particularly masc or fem. Soda is AMAB.
Johnny Cade: Johnny is another character I toy with the idea of being trans. Like Two-Bit, I think he could have been trans in canon. However, whether I headcanon him as trans or not shifts often with my own gender, since I tend to project the dysphoria onto Johnny - when I'm dysphoric, he's trans; when I'm not, he's cis. He's 100% gay either way. He only likes guys. Johnny uses he/they pronouns with no preference.
Ponyboy Curtis: So here's the thing. @broareweabouttoviberightnow did in fact infect me with the transfem Pony agenda (she's my baby now). So, I realized I am way too invested in Cowgirl Curtis and her story, but also Ponyboy Curtis and his story. So I think Pony is genderfluid and uses Cowgirl as her name when really feminine and Ponyboy gives her dysphoria, and Ponyboy when masc. When in the middle, he just goes by Pony. Pony's pronouns change depending on what he feels like, but he uses he/she/they. Ponyboy is pansexual with masc preference.
Tim Shepard: Gay. He's gay. Tim is a cisgender guy who uses he/him and kisses boys. There's not much to him in that aspect. Where the others kind of think about their identities a lot (especially considering the time period, they were scared) Tim does not care. At all. I think he's demisexual and/or on the ace spectrum because sexuality barely crosses his mind until he really gets to know someone and is like "oh, yeah, I forgot I like boys. I like him."
Curly Shepard: He's also cisgender and gay. Like, painfully gay. Tripping-over-his-own-feet-when-a-boy-smiles-at-him gay. He uses he/him, but (again, @broareweabouttoviberightnow gave me this headcanon) dresses pretty fem to avoid looking like Tim and instead looks a lot like Angela. He doesn't mind it, he actually likes being feminine, so it doesn't bother him when people accidentally call him using she/her pronouns, as long as it doesn't happen too often.
Angela Shepard: She's a cisgender female. I had toyed with the idea of her being trans, but girl power. She's a BAMF, and I need more of her being just as tough as her brothers while being a cisgender female in the sixties. She uses she/her pronouns and is omnisexual with male preference (female preference later on though).
Paul Holden: Paul is a cisgender guy who uses he/him. He was a lot like Steve in that he was raised to understand homophobia is normal, and then he meets Darry and he realizes that he's not a "late bloomer", he's just hella gay.
Ace: She's a cisgender female and uses she/her pronouns and "he" as well, never "him" or "his". She doesn't label her sexuality, but she likes feminine girls and masculine men.
Robert "Bob" Sheldon: He's a cisgender male and straight. He uses he/him.
Sherri "Cherry" Valance: She's a cisgender female and straight. She uses she/her and is supportive/an ally.
Marcia Mariani-Meyrink: Marcia is a cisgender female and minsexual. She uses she/her pronouns.
Bev: Bev could go both ways. I think she's straight and only attracted to guys, and she uses she/her pronouns. But she could be a cis female, or a trans female. It depends on the universe we're placing her in and the situation. Like Two-Bit and Johnny, she could be trans in canon, but she doesn't have to be. She's one I waver on.
