One in a million still means one
They all bet against it but I've just begun
I've prayed all night 'cause I know something will work out
Cause you're one thing I can't bear to live without
I'm diving off but I don't know if there's a deep end
Won't give up, even if nobody sees it
You'll be here before we know it, I can feel it
You're my only reason
Know the doctor's gonna tell me your heart's beating
A mother knows her instincts better than her breathing
I can't wait to meet you in a couple seasons
And fill the missing pieces
I thought this would be the perfect song to post in honor of the Varmitech twin’s birthday!
Despite having 5 children together, Zach and Violet experience fertility struggles and lost their eldest child. Each pregnancy was high risk and terrifying for them, but they prayed and hoped for healthy babies each time. And much to their shock they ended up with 5 babies. None were planned for except Victor, but all were loved and cherished unconditionally.
See below cut for a fic excerpt describing when they found out about Alexandria. Please note descriptions and mentions of pregnancy/potential child loss.
“How am I going to tell Zach?” I asked Banks as I paced back and forth in the bathroom.
As if my question was answered, I heard Zach calling my name, “Vi? Are you still in there? You’ve been in there for over an hour, are you alright?”
“Banks, don’t let him in…He can’t see them,” I stated, a little too loud.
Zach heard me and a warning tone crept into his voice as he ordered Banks to let him into the bathroom, “Override Code: Zachary Bennett Varmitech, Zach, 17.”
Banks still hovered between me and the sink, so Zach could not see the tests. Zach was fuming, but he had yet to say a word since he entered the bathroom.
His jaw was set, and he leaned against the doorframe, he cocked his head at me and eyed Banks suspiciously, “what’s going on here?”
“Nothing, Banks was just helping me clean…” I said, and Zach snapped his fingers, “Move out of the way Zachbot, let’s see what my little flower is hiding behind you.”
“Zach, no, please, wait…” I warned.
Zach held his hand out to me, “Come on Vi, take my hand, let’s look at whatever you’re hiding together, then you can explain why you’re hiding it.”
I hesitantly took Zach’s hand, and he twirled me against him. He held me to his chest and wrapped his arms over mine, which were pinned under his, against my chest. Zach pushed me forward, and we walked in unison towards the counter.
“Now, let’s see what my Violet was hiding from me…” He uttered in a mocking tone.
Zach looked at my face in the mirror above the counter, smirking, as we walked up to the inevitable truth of our impending parenthood.
He winked at me and hissed into my ear, “don’t hide things from me, my dear, now, let’s see…”
I kept my eyes on the mirror as Zach’s fell to the three positive pregnancy tests. His jaw dropped open, his eyes widened, and his brows furrowed together.
“Wha- When did this happen!” Zach shrieked, he untangled himself from me and started picking up the tests, examining them closely and matching them up to the instruction sheets on the counter.
I laughed nervously, “I guess a couple weeks ago…I’m not sure, we haven’t exactly been careful…And you knew I was waiting to get the implant.”
Zach flashed me a look of hatred, “don’t joke about this.”
“Zach, I’m not…I’m just…nervous and scared…I don’t want to lose this baby…and you know what the doctors have said…” I clasped my hands together and held them tightly under my chin; I backed away from him as a few tears slipped from my eyes.
His demeanor instantly changed; I saw his shoulders which had been held stiffly upright slump. He physically looked smaller, like he’d been defeated, “I’m sorry, Vi, it’s just…I want you to be safe…Both of you.”
“Both of us?” I whispered.
Zach walked up to me and hovered over me, not touching me until he brushed the tears away from my cheeks with his thumbs, “you and our baby.”
“Our baby?” I let my hands slip to rest at my sides until Zach took them into his, he brought my knuckles to his mouth and kissed them. His green eyes shining with unshed tears.
“Yes, OUR BABY. Our Baby Varmitech…”
Zach, released my hands and gathered me into a tight hug. Cradling my head against his chest.
