As I've mentioned before. There are rare times when I watch a Chinese drama with my parents. Inbound Troubles (老表,你好嘢!) is literally the first one where I've watched it from the very beginning.
Fucking hilarious as shit.
AND THIS BITCH LADY IN THE SHOW IS PREGGERS. AND IT'S TOTALLY NOT HER FIANCÉ'S KIDDY. LIKE. I TOTALLY CALLED IT.
Further evidence to support my observations of K-Pop's current pre-eminence in Hong Kong
Sadly can't find the relevant but on YouTube, but I just started watching recent comedic Hong Kong TV series Inbound Troubles, which focuses on visitors and migrants from mainland China.
The first episode featured a Hong Kong singing contest that one of central characters entered, only to be rejected because of his poor Cantonese accent.
What most amused me about the sequence, though, was the bit where he meets a boyband who have also entered. Based on their appearance, he announces his surprise that they have travelled all the way from South Korea, only to discover that they are in fact locals posing as being Korean to improve their chances.
At first impression, I thought I was going to pass on watching this series because I wasn't too excited for the cast--Ivana Wong, Corinna Chamberlain, Louis Cheng, May Chan, Tommy Wong--who are they/what a weird cast! But I ended up watching it solely because of Roger Kwok, Wong Cho Lam, and Joey Meng. I never thought I'd say this, but I love this series. Even though the cast was such a weird combo, it worked out perfectly. I ended up liking Ivana more as a singer too. I love the idea of Law Lan & Wu Fung being the "hip" elderly that they were; the Oh Baby group and its incorporation of songs in this dramas; Joey & Roger's relationship; and surprisingly, Mimi Chu & Tommy Wong's relationship as well!
Overall, a series I recommend.
Really glad to know that there's a sequel/movie(?)
Waiting for the HD eps to be uploaded to make posts!
Come Home Love
I think everyone knows I ship Alex and John Ma.
They're basically the main reason why I watch this sitcom. And I really like the relationship between the Ma family as well.
The Days of Days
The only reason why I'm even watching this series is because of Sonija Kwok and Sunny Chan. I personally thought the first ten episodes were basically a waste of time. It only got slightly interesting when the Tong famiily's business was falling apart. I'm just waiting for Sonija/Sunny and Raymond/LinXiaWei's relationshp lines.
Raymond Lam & Karena Ng
Thought I might just add my two cents on this.
I don't really believe that "age is just a number", but in this case, I do support this statement. 33 vs. 19 -- 14 age gap. Compare to other 19 year olds out there, I do think that Karena is quite mature, in terms of looks and the way she carries herself. She's different from a lot of other girls her age in the industry, and I do believe she's quite compatible with Raymond. Think about it; out of all the girls in this industry, he chose her. And unlike his relationship with Mavis Pan, he publicly acknowledge Karena to be his girlfriend. It's so sweet of him to do that and by announcing it to the media, I think he's pretty serious about the relationship. I don't believe that she's "wasting her youth" on Raymond. As a 18 year old, I wouldn't mind such an age gap if I was in the industry. It's another story to be dating someone so much older while in school and jobless--you got everything to lose! But Karena doesn't; I don't believe she has anything to lose.
Ex: Roger Kwok and his wife, Cindy Au started dating when he was 35 and she, 20. They married 2006 and are now with kids. Don't know what the future holds for them, but they worked out just fine!
I think people should just respect their idols/celebrities' decision when it comes to relationships and not comment too much and make it too much of a personal issue... unless it's just totally absurd.
