Guo Chengyu: What does this even have to with me?!
(Also loving how Chi Cheng just goes into action like are you kidding me, you're just itching to be taught a lesson)

boop
When Destiny Brings the Demon sounds cartoonish with it's literal baby eating villains, but it's actually hitting so hard (don't know if I could bring myself to watch Ep 12 again) because it's unfortunately realistic.
If there was a family of people that you could eat and gain magnificent power, people would totally be eating them. Like no question. And the baby factory cave would also totally exist. But the MOST realistic thing is the compartmentalization. Shi Qianlv is pretty off the deep end and basically lacks all morals at this point, but the rest of them? They somehow manage to think they are good, and even have moral qualms about their disciples killing each other or about the palace daughter using other "normal" disciples to progress. Crimes against them and their people count; crimes against the Sima clan/bloodline don't. This is the sort of thing that does happen in real life and leads to genocide and slavery.
The human discrimination against the Yao/demons always feels realistic to me in these Cdrama fantasies, but this show has taken it to another level entirely by making the Sima clan fully human and yet other.
very fitting that this is the last line of this series
I'm moving through the season one well, several of my favorite scenes are in this episode of Sangatsu.
Sensei explaining to Rei the importance of being someone people who help him can rely on, in a way he understands. Hell yes, goooo Sensei!
