I see so many posts about spending your money at local businesses to support them. That shouldn’t be your responsibility. You shouldn’t subsidise a business for the owner living near you. You should reward businesses for doing things right, and small, local businesses can respond to the needs of their local area better and more easily respond to trends or even set them. Don’t spend your money on independent, local businesses because they’re local and independent. Support then because they’re doing what makes sense for where they are instead of what they’ve always done and what works in the big picture. Support them for their merits. Support them for the passion they put into their work. Not because of a sob story. That’s what X Factor is for.
