No one right "Self-care" Rx
I'm burned out. it took me four SOLID DAYS of "self-care" to find my creative streak. It occurs to me that my vision of "self-care" is so very different than so many out there.
I even posted one today that was "take a shower, change your sheets, make some tea and read a book." that's not self-care for me. if it is for you, GREAT! practice it.
wanna know what my self-care is? Doing Nothing.
Taking meds? Yea, ok. I can't get out of that one.
Doing all the things I'm "supposed" to do? Nope. no workouts. no taking my blood pressure 2x/day. No testing my glucose 3x/day*
Stressing over what I eat? nope.
Being the matriarch and making sure everyone else has everything they need? Nope. They're grown ass adults. they can manage.
I have literally done nothing for FOUR DAYS before I could consider doing "chores" or what is traditionally considered "self-care" let alone plug into my creative streak. I ate deli meats and cheese and crackers. Taggy took me out to amazon go and I ended up getting a cobb salad.
I got lost in a fledgling** fandom and had fun cackling at the antics I pulled in fantasy worlds.
I PLAYED and it's what I needed.
find what fills your cup and use that for self-care. If it's not "going for a walk, touching grass, drink water, exercise, et al." fuck it and find what works for you. It's YOUR cup you're filling. Indulge yourself.
*I am not a diabetic (I'm pre-diabetic) so I can afford to not do this.
**Fledgling to me. Not that the fandom is new, just that it's new to me
