Whatever makes you feel bad, leave it. Whatever makes you smile, keep it.
Hey you. Yes, you.
Listen to me right now. I know you might forget I told you this but I really hope you will remember. Many teenagers suffer from depression and constant sadness but people call it "just being a teenager" because apparently, being miserable in teenage years became a norm.
We look back at childhood and say "I wish I was happy like I was back then" decide we won't be happy like that anymore but that's just not true. It's not about age, it's not about hormones. It's about system we are being raised in and adults fell victims to this system, teens are next. This system tries to make us live in the FUTURE. We live in constant worries of "what career should I choose?" "what if I'm broke in the future?" "what if I fail a test or an exam?" "I have to do this so I won't be miserable in the future" "I need to study and work so I won't be struggling in the future." And yes, future is important.
But yk the difference between us and the kids? It's not just that kids don't have responsibilities, it's that they live in the PRESENT. They don't know what their future career truly will be, what major they will study, what job they will do to make money. They don't really worry about it. They're like "screw that, but eating ice cream would really make me happy RIGHT NOW." They don't know their future, but they know what will make them happy right now, in this moment and for them, it's not waste of time, because they enjoy it.
But we? We don't know what makes us happy right now, because we are used to living in the future. No shit we are depressed. We spend time to make our future better but not our present. We work so our future self will be happy but not our current self. That's why, we miss what could be making us happy right now and we don't appreciate enough what we currently have, because we are living in the thought process of what we can have in the future.
So please, ask yourself "what will make me happy right now, in this moment?" and listen to your heart. It can be something silly or something deep. It can be something like putting on Karaoke and singing or just dressing fancy. Whatever it is, do it right now. If it's something deeper, try to do it by this year. Because making your current self happy is the first step towards general happiness.
Enjoy every second of your damn life.
It will be over.. in a blink of an eye.
I will smile no matter what Today I take back my life!!
And if you're not happy, you know whose fault it is. Good Morning.
Reminder: if things make you happy, you don’t have to explain it to anyone.
