Confirmation Bias: How We Convince Ourselves We’re Right
How Do You Change Someone’s Mind?
Why Can’t We Build Better Towns?
A lot of people are talking about sustainable urban development. So why aren’t we making progress? Well, a large portion of the land in the United States is zoned for single-family detached housing, which means it’s illegal to build anything besides inefficient, car-dependent suburban sprawl. Let’s change that!
Inspired by this awesome Climate Town video: The Suburbs are Bleeding America Dry. I recommend watching it if you want to learn more about this subject.
And here’s an article that my friend Tim Shores found, that gets into the problems with single-family zoning: It’s Time to End Single Family Zoning.

Script: Person A: I’m sorry I forgot your birthday. I’m terrible with dates. Person B: I can’t trust you anymore. Narrator: Trust doesn’t have to be black and white. It’s not like either I trust someone or I don’t. I trust different people in different ways. I trust Bob with my life, but I don’t trust him to show up on time. I trust Sarah to be kind and empathetic, and I trust Matt to be totally honest. I trust most people I know not to tie me up and rob me. There’s no one I trust in every way, and that’s okay. Knowing how to trust someone allows me to better appreciate their strengths and values.
