mike ending up in henrys mind instead of holly, and after max explains to him that he has to find his own way out then leaves.. he starts to hear wills voice and he immediately sees his perspective a few steps away, will looking down at him with tears in his eyes.

mike in camazotz au where its like your standard movie format:

they find eachother in camazotz

theyre kinda reluctant about working tg (not really bc they love eachother but ykwim)

they end up arguing about some sort of direction and split up

something bad happens

they find eachother again

they make up

and things are going all fine and dandy in th search through mikes memories on his way out, and then you know where they end up?

the rain fight.

mike is visibly uncomfortable, begging max to turn back and asking if they can go through any other memory— and max is like “dude wtf no we’re so close js deal w it for rn its gonna be okay”

and then she hears it.

“its not my fault you dont like girls!”

and she crashes the fuck out.

which ends up having her storm away in anger, splitting them up AGAIN (i know but just bear with me) and causes mike to hide in another memory, and guess what that one is?

the day he and will met.

and max sees all of it play out like it did that day, and once that portion of the memory is over, it cuts to the playground deserted, with mike sitting alone on the swings, and slowly starting to explain.

he tells her that it was the best thing he’s ever done, and that will is what he’s most grateful for in his life. that he couldnt bear living w/o him.

and after he says that, they get transported to that day at the quarry, no—yk what? BOTH days. the day they pulled wills body out of the water AND the day mike jumped.

and after that, it cuts to mike in his room, sitting at his desk, writing furiously, and then groaning and putting the paper in a box.

and then its a montage of that, over and over again. write, sigh, yell, shake head, put paper in box, repeat—over the course of what looks like a year

and then on one of the last ones, memory!mike leaves the room, and mike brings that box over to max, she opens it, and skims through its contents

as shes reading, her eyes are getting wider and wider, and when she looks up, mike looks angry, upset, like he’s holding back from yelling—and there are tears in his eyes.

cut to a whole things with max + mike, where she gives him like a tough love talk, with her saying “you’re allowed to love him”.

cue hug and sobbing on both ends, and eventually, they escape to their respective bodies (which arent anywhere near eachother obvi)

then once max is back and shes in the car with lucas, steve, robin, el and hopper, or whoever tf was in that car, she insists on going to the wheelers, and it takes some convincing cause nobody knows why—but they go, and max gets the box. (more like she has lucas physically get it for her, but she goes with.)

and when they meet back at the sqwak, madwise hug happens, and will points to the box in her lap and goes: “whats that?”

“oh, its just something i have to give to mike”

and mike is there bc they got him and i said so or maybe this is after they finally get him and the whole shebang wtv wtv you get my point (all of its still kinda fuzzy ok)

and he gives her a hug, and he sees the box in her hand. she hands it to him, and he smiles softly.

“go get him, wheeler—and never let him go”

“trust me, i wont. never again.”
