Title: A White Problem... Hey guys, I have not posted in two weeks because I have been deeply troubled by the state of the world. I wanted to make a piece of art that showed my solidarity in the #blacklivesmatter movement, but also felt like I needed to start educating myself and learning about my own systemic racism, the ways I benefit from being white, the struggles I have and why I have them) talking about race, and a whole meriad of conflicting thoughts. I am anti-racist and feel very angry about the way minorities have been treated FOREVER. But what is anger? It is only useful to us if we act on it. So, in order to be productive in this anger, I have decided to explore my place in this growing, truthful, worldwide conversation through creativity. I have created a systemic racism art challenge with art prompts for the next 30 days. I have picked phrases and words I will use to guide me through a creative process exploring racism, conversations around it and how I, as a white woman, fit into that conversation. I share my list of prompts in the 2nd photo. If you would like to join me in this process, which will start tomorrow, then use #systemicracismartchallenge. I would love to see your own explorations. Sending out lots of love.
