Drying incense in Vietnam
Forgiveness Incense Powder
This was made with:
Rose petals - honesty
Thyme - clarity
Pine needles - exorcism
Apple Blossom - love, happiness
Mortar and pestle
Glass jar
I have some things I need to let go of and forgive myself for. I was young, impulsive and...it was stupid.
The ingredients in this are geared towards love, compassion... understanding and clarity. Being honest with myself about what I did and letting go.
This week I am focusing on water and spirit. The herbs I chose not only resonate with the intentions I want to set out, but are also water element herbs (except pine because the moon is moving into Pisces so I wanted to incorporate that as well).
The new moon is a perfect time for this in my practice since it is a time of new beginnings and correlated with me wanting to focus on the spirit element as well.
I shook up the jar and then placed it into an egg holder with moon water next to a moonstone point to enhance the water element of the herbs.

🔥Incenses for Loki: Intention Over Ingredients
When people ask what incense Loki prefers, they often expect a definitive list. As with candles and offerings, Lokean practice does not work through fixed requirements. There is no incense named for Loki in the sources, and the Eddas do not prescribe devotional scents.
What matters instead is association, effect, and intent.
Loki responds less to tradition and more to whether something does something — sharpens awareness, shifts mood, opens conversation, or marks change.
Frankincense is one of the most frequently used incenses for Loki, despite its strong association with more “formal” gods. In Lokean work, frankincense functions as clarity rather than authority. It is often chosen when approaching Loki for insight, honesty, or perspective rather than comfort. It clears the air, both literally and symbolically.
Cinnamon and other warm spices are associated with fire, momentum, and vitality. These scents are often used when working with Loki during periods of change, motivation, or emotional intensity. Cinnamon is active and unmistakable — it does not fade politely into the background, which makes it fitting for a god who interrupts stagnation.
Dragon’s blood is popular in modern practice, not because it is anciently “correct,” but because of its symbolic weight. It carries associations of strength, intensity, and transformation. In Lokean devotion, it is often used during boundary-setting, shadow work, or moments when difficult truths are being acknowledged.
Herbal incenses such as mugwort, bay, or mixed green blends are often chosen for Loki’s clever, liminal aspects. These scents are linked to insight, altered perspective, and mental flexibility. They are commonly used during divination, writing, or quiet devotional moments where listening matters more than asking.
Sandalwood is sometimes used when devotion is calm rather than confrontational. It supports grounding, steadiness, and presence. For those who experience Loki not only as disruptive but also as companion and guide, sandalwood can mark respectful, ongoing relationship rather than crisis work.
Citrus or light resin blends may seem unusual, but they appear frequently in Lokean spaces. Bright, sharp scents reflect wit, quickness, and mental agility. These are often chosen for creative work, problem-solving, or moments where humor is needed to break tension.
Unscented incense, or no incense at all, is also valid. Loki does not require sensory excess. Sometimes choosing nothing is the most honest option, especially during burnout or emotional overload.
A useful way to think about incense in Lokean devotion is this:
If the scent helps you become more honest, flexible, or attentive, it is appropriate.
Incense is not an offering meant to impress.
It is a signal — to yourself — that you are present.
If your incense changes over time, that does not mean your devotion is unstable. It means the relationship is alive.
Loki does not ask for consistency of tools.
He asks for consistency of awareness.
