i can't decide if tumblr is the most wonderful and enlightening place on the internet or the most depressing

i had stuff written out here but it got incoherent and depressing so i can't even bullet point this shit right now

if i come back to it later and it shapes up better i'll put it here or maybe just make a new post. for the general idea all you need to know is that i searched the "fat" tag at 4 am for no reason in particular. it is everything that is terrible about this place and everything that is great about it on the same page. it isn't just about body image/positivity/shaming of every kind/etc issues though, the same dichotomy applies to nearly every hot topic here and they're all connected in their own ways in my mind. i'd list them but i';m afraid ofleaving thingsout right now but like you guys know what the deal is you can deduce what they are; none of us are that new here. on tumblr are the best and worst of every kind, on tumblr the most inspiring and beautiful minds/people and the most... broken, confused - those who need the voice and compassion of the former more than anything else

what will it take for people to realize we're all on the same side here
