Too many cookies were made today...
Me: *wakes up at 3AM due to jet lag*
Me, three hours later: Well, I've made chicken stock and chocolate chip cookies and rolled out a pie crust and replenished my stash of party. Should I make bread next, or run over to the grocery store (now that it's finally open) to grab pinto beans and condensed milk so I can finish my pumpkin pie and chili first? Or maybe I should do chicken pot pie and Yorkshire pudding since my stomach definitely thinks to should be lunch soon and the stock pot will be free as soon as I decant my soup. I need to render more lard, but I think that can wait until tomorrow because then the cracklings will be fresh for the friend who I have a pig fat-for-cracklings deal with.
What does a Food Archivist do when she can't sleep?
Get up, invent a new healthy muffin recipe and bake it for breakfast, of course! One batch of Walnut, Raisin and Apple Muffins coming up 👍 Breakfast might have to be early this morning. Or shall we call it pre-breakfast? That's a thing, right? It's a thing. There's a hashtag. Currently brewing a pot of (decaff) jasmine green tea, listening to the dawn chorus and enjoying the warm fug of baking smells filling our kitchen. The Lovely Husband is still curled up in bed like a giant puppy and I'm looking forward to him waking up so I can go and snuggle with him 💕 Have to wait a bit though, it's only 5AM 😁
Well I made apple strawberry crisp and dog treats. Then I try to sleep again...
