Leave no child a dime is reference the No Child Left Behind Act which is what ended up tying school funding directly to standardized test scores and is why we had such an increase in standardized testing starting around 2002. it was repealed in 2015. NCLB lead to a reduction in teaching social studies, art, science and physical education by at least 33% each to increase language arts learning by 47% and math learning by 37% to try and pass the tests. many states lowered their test requirements or made tests easier bc they were allowed to. states that were improving drastically were still considered failing bc they hadn't hit their goal in a year. there was a major focus on bringing minority students grade averages up but absolutely no focus on how to equitably do so
F*ck Bush is a reference to how much george w. bush sucks ass. just for the record, his wife killed a man. george w. bush owned a baseball team before he was governor of texas. he skipped his national guard drug tests. he was a member of the skull & bones society whose members used to(?) be initiated by laying naked in a coffin in front of the 14 others and answering questions about their sex life (gay!). in 1976 he was arrested for drunk driving and fined $150. he had a 2.35 gpa. in 2006, his admin fired 7 US attorneys in retribution for not endorsing the election results (sound familiar?)
Bush Lied is a reference to the claim that iraq had weapons of mass destruction (similar to venezuela and their "drug boats") which gave us the right to invade. wmds were NEVER found in iraq. for americans, we couldn't understand why bush was going after sadam instead of bin laden, who had claimed responsibility for the 9/11 attacks; instead he captured sadam, the guy his daddy wasn't about to catch. from his first national security council meeting, bush told his administration to find him an excuse to invade iraq. when asked if he gave permission for the illegal waterboarding and torture of prisoners, bush said "damn right"
i owned the bush lied pin when i was in school. i got in fights with my stepmom over it every. single. day. i got in fights at school too. i lived in a conservative midwest town with 1200 people in it, 6 of which were not white. i had to listen to my friend's mom tell me her family votes republican bc lincoln was a republican. the phrase "i'm not racist bc my Black friend agrees" was something i heard a lot growing up. i had every reason to end up a conservative piece of shit. thank jebus my mother escaped the same hometown and came back for me or i would be laura loomer 2.0
