New release! This is the first of my songs to include stringed instruments in addition to the piano, which made it a lot of fun to write. I am super happy with how this one turned out and it's easily a personal favorite.

I started writing this song a few months ago after seeing the sunlight streaming down through the clouds and glittering on Utah lake in the distance while riding my bike home from work on a wet spring day.

What We Leave Behind is an orchestral score written for a short film of the same name. The film documents a family's life using stop motion of their environment.

When I was writing this score I worked hard to really highlight the emotional context of each scene. Since it was only a 10 minute film telling a story that spans over 30 years, each scene had to be very short but still needed to be impactful. The score needed to drive home the emotional context of these tiny glimpses into the complexity of family life and because the score was continuous each piece needed to transition smoothly from one emotion to the next.

This score was a so much fun to create and I hope you enjoy it!
