this new earth was terrifying. it was probably the only word for it. there were people EXPLODING, destruction everywhere you turned. it wasn’t supposed to be like this. this wasn’t an earth at war, as far as she was aware. there were heroes, there were always heroes, putting themselves in danger and keeping others out of it. but when there is ANARCHY like this, heroes can’t do all that much. elara was stood, facing the danger, watching it as if it were on a screen, when she was knocked down. sliding across the cracked pavement, scuffing her knee in the process, she let out a small whine of pain. “for fuck’s SAKE,” she said, loudly.
when all was said and done, jason was a human. his strength and weaknesses were all bound to that one singular fact. h u m a n. a human with a twisted moral streak that involved killing others without guilt or remorse sure, but this? even jason, who claimed he didn’t feel a thing, couldn’t help but race forward as a doorway filled with falling debris, trapping kids and adults alike inside the burning building. he could hear the shouts -- the screaming. without thinking, he started attacking the fallen barriers in a bid to get through. “SOMEONE... FUCKING... HELP ME!” each punch and shove was punctuated with a yell as he exerted himself over and over again. “COME ON!”
leah knew the importance of the timeline and how they should just let events happen no matter how much she or anyone wanted them to change, but that didn’t mean she was okay with it. back in 2050, the younger crawford had read about the explosions and the disaster that followed yet she didn’t think she would come face to face with the destruction it left in it’s wake; more so, she didn’t think she would ever see someone die right in front of her. “i couldn’t -- i couldn’t save him,” the young girl sobbed as she cowered in a corner, cradling a broken wrist to her chest, a painful reminder of the first explosion. “i c-c-couldn’t --” her sentence went unfinished as another boom rocked the very ground they were on, causing leah to curl up tighter. “i want to go home.”
Roy could hear the first blast as it went off. He was on his bike and headed home- to Lian- when the second did, close enough to send his back wheel skidding off the tarmac and him flying to the ground. His head came worryingly close to pavement, and the fire that followed the bang licked towards him. The bike was rideable, still, as he looked it over quickly- and while he could see the people trapped, people who needed help- his daughter needed him more.
Pushing the bike a little out of the way, he swung his leg over it with a hiss- alright, maybe the crash had bruised some ribs, but nothing he’d not been through before- and glared at the person in front. “Out of my way.”
the city was in the midst of celebration, an all day party thrown in honour of the central city cougars who, after almost a hundred years of defeat when it comes to the trophy, have finally won. for one weekend only, the city has lifted it’s curfew for the younger population, allowing them to drink in the experience and celebrate along with their peers and elders. it was definitely a weekend to remember.
a once in a lifetime opportunity, no one was going to pass this up.
deep in the heart of the city, an alarm rings above the noise of music, a continuous pounding wail that soon alerts the law enforcement that are within a block’s radius. the cause? on the outside, it looks as it’s nothing more than your average bank robbery, but if a closer look is taken, a known metahuman stands among the chaos. unharmed and untouched by the flames that continue to build and spread from within the bank. with eyes as white as snow and an eerie absent demeanor, as if steered by something not quite themselves. driven by something unseen, something that seems to be tugging at every fear receptor in his body, the male’s body continues to burn beyond what the average human body can handle, until...
B O O M !!
the first one came as a warning.
within five minutes, another loud boom cascades the street with debris of all shapes and sizes. what was a celebration a mere few minutes ago had now turned to terror as people appear to explode without rhyme or reason. fear spreads throughout the city as building after building fall victim to the carnage caused by the exploding men, but one is for sure; something or someone is making this happen, and no metahuman is safe.
as the city burns, it’s up to our heroes and their friends to make sure that the destruction and chaos is placed under control, leaving the cougar’s historic win long forgotten.

Dinah had been trying to help people as best she could, getting them out of burning buildings before they collapsed. She would definitely need new fishnets after this was over, the ones she was wearing had been burned quite a few holes in, but she didn’t have any severe injuries.
She’d just gotten out of another building after getting people out when she saw him, Tommy, she still couldn’t believe he was really there, alive. But he was, and even though she was dressed in her Black Canary gear she had to make sure he was okay. “Tommy” she called out to him as she made her way over to him “are you okay?”
Explosions. Loud and frequent, almost as terrifying as when the particle accelerator had malfunctioned. Almost. Except this time no one seemed to have any idea what was going on, including Barry. He didn’t even know where to start, before he saw someone nearby leaving one of the buildings, debris about to collapse above them. “Crap.” He breathed before breaking into a sprint, appearing next to the person just as the debris fell and pushing them out of the way. Barry didn’t have any time to move out of the way himself, getting buried beneath it instead.
Mick likes fire. Everyone knows this- it’s his thing. So when people started exploding, setting fire to large swathes of Central City... It was like he was in heaven. But then he remembered he’s supposed to be helping people, saving people- his job, now, and something Sara would probably tell him off for not doing...
At least he understood fire, how it runs through a building, eats away at the support, leaves things a dangerous husk, ready to collapse- so he could help get people out quickly, easily, through exits that wouldn’t leave the whole place about to fall apart.
“You want to help get these three out? Not that exit- you open that door, there’ll be an explosion.”
