Interlocutor

Yes, another narratology term. The interlocutor is a tool used for getting the reader to create a specific imaginative text.

Within this text, there comes an acceptance for its values, and becomes fused with the view. 

The terms closely associated are suturing, and the expelled. In other theories, the interlocutor can be associated as well. For example, in post structuralist theory the interlocutor works in getting to think “oh no, if the self isn't the center of authority, what is at stake?” 

Suturing is the act of physically being sown into the text. You may identify with a character, though this means that you must first identify with the sign system, the language, the story, the structure, and then the character and genre.

An example of this being that Shakespeare wrote for a white male audience. Though you may not be a white male, say you are African, reading Shakespeare now turns you into a white reader. You  become a part of the culture. 

The narrative has a way of turning political, because the naturalization of the story itself allows the reader to believe in conflicting ideas very easily. There is a passive acceptance of the world view at hand, and anyone not fitting this world view is easily expelled, or forgotten. 

We typically identify with the main character, and agree that their story is natural

Like the example beforehand, featuring Inuyasha, I used a reference to the expelled character, which was Koga. 

The interlocutor has its place in psychoanalysis as well. The third person creates an interlocutor who is the master. Whose ego is gratified, who can see and know all.
