Just a little info for any schizospec or psychotic person :

Internal hallucinations are a thing.

You have "thoughts" that don't sound like your voice?

They work independently of your own thoughts/ inner monologue?

You have multiple going on?

They won't stop even if you're trying to think about something else?

They're louder than your own inner monologue?

They sound like the music you hear in your head when listening to headphones ? Like a in-between thing between your head and ears?

They sound or work exactly like your external hallucinations but inside your head?

They sound like different beings are inside your head talking?

Those are internal hallucinations

There are research paper about it but it's barely talked about. Some psychiatrists don't even believe in them but they're a real and valid hallucination.

I was wondering if you (or anyone in the notes) had any advice/resources about telling the difference between headmate voices & (internal) voice hallucinations?

We are both plural and psychosis-spectrum and have a new headmate that is throwing me haha.

On The Topic of Clairaudience

First and foremost, before people become too up in arms, I want to say that I believe that Clairaudience exists. I have a lot of friends with the gift and it is a wonderful one.

HOWEVER auditory and internal hallucination can be mistaken for Clairaudience. Double check, get outside confirmations, compare what you’re hearing with what you know about the deities/spirits.

I WISH I HAD DONE THIS SOONER!

When I first started hearing internal and auditory hallucinations, in the form of voices of the Gods (and others), the voices were often accusatory, commanding, and persecutory - downright abusive at times. I was sleep deprived and distraught - why were the Gods treating me this way? Why wouldn’t they stop or leave me alone? This went on for months.

USE DISCERNMENT!!

The Gods would not be cruel to you. They would not command you to do things. They would not sleep deprive you, or accuse you of anything. If you’re hearing the Gods say they want to or are punishing you - it’s not the gods.

AND NOT EVERYONE CAN USE CLAIRAUDIENCE!!

I’ve come to peace with the fact my hallucinations would make it impossible for me to tell even if I did have Clairaudience. It feels awful when you’re around people who can use it - especially when it’s most of the people you’re around. But that doesn’t stop you from having your own special relationship with the Gods. That doesn’t stop you from connecting with them. You’re just as good of a worshipper as anyone else even without Clair audience.

Remember that having auditory and internal hallucinations doesn’t make you any less than as a worshipper OR as a person!

Hi sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm not diagnosed with anything but sometimes I hear voices in my head. But I'm not sure if they can be considered hallucinations or something since it's not like I hear it out loud, more like... When you talk in your head and you can clearly hear your voice, but it's different voices and i can't control what they're saying or how when/long they talk. Again I don't know if it counts since I don't hear it outloud and I can tell it's in my head?

First of all, don’t apologize, no question is a dumb question, so feel free to ask me anything, I’ll answer in the best of my abilities.

Regarding your question, I can tell you that not all hallucinations have to be external voices, sometimes hallucinations can be internal, those are the ones I used to have before I was medicated and in treatment. However, I can’t tell you if what you’re experiencing are actually hallucinations or something else, like dissociation, which can be confused with, Only a professional can I answered a similar question a while ago about internal hallucinations, here’s the link.

Hi! Of course its okay to ask!! I'm always open for any questions (unless they're too personal).

Internal hallucinations feel and "sound" completely different to thoughts, even intrusive thoughts. To me, Internal hallucinations are more close to the sound of hearing music inside your head when having headphones on. They're like in a in-between space for me. Definitely clearer and stronger than thoughts but not outside my head. They're also not in my own voice, whereas intrusive thoughts are in my own voice. You can also imagine as if someone put speakers inside your head. Thats why "thought insertion" delusion is so common. Because internal hallucinations can basically sound like someone else in your head or someone elses thoughts

Can auditory hallucinations be internal? I have these commands in a different deeper voice that tell me to harm myself and put visuals in my head how to do it. I sometimes see dark shadowy figures but mostly things in the corner of my eyes. I’m basically asking if these are considered hallucinations.

Auditory hallucinations can, in fact, be internal. I found a study that talks about these type of hallucinations, here’s the conclusion (the study is rather long but if you want to check it out here’s the link:)

Patients with internal hallucinations did not differ from those with external-only hallucinations in severity of positive, negative, general, or overall symptoms, but they were more depressed, and reported that their hallucinations were more emotionally negative, distressing, and disruptive. They also reported that their hallucinations lasted longer and were less controllable. They were more likely to experience voices commenting and voices conversing, as well as persecutory voices and commands to harm or kill others, and their hallucinations were less likely to have remitted over time. However, they also were more likely to have insight into the self-generated nature of their voices. Furthermore, contrary to expectations, internal hallucinators were not at a more advanced stage of illness, at least chronologically speaking. They were not significantly older, nor was the duration of their illness longer; in fact, their illness onset was at a significantly later age.
