they didn’t get told they were a human by their parents. They live in a monster town so they assume they’ll grow up to become a monster, right? I know people think Kris *wants* or wanted to be a monster but I think differently (toriel said Kris asked when their horns are going to grow , which shows that it’s not that Kris didn’t want to be a human, but rather Kris thought that everyone is a monster, including them.) this obviously mirrors some intersex experiences (not being told theyre intersex, living in a perisex world so not knowing that people can be not perisex. Getting confused over their own body and how it differs from perisex bodies (Kris being confused over when they’ll grow their horns)) and!! Kris parents!!! Gets them a horned head band instead of telling them they’re human!!! They get treated differently (but still accepted) in hometown for being visibly human (like how intersex people get treated differently by the public for being visibly intersex)
