MetaFiction is an Interstitial 2e hack about finding out you're inside a work of fiction, on top of being forced to play a death game for the entertainment of mysterious Patrons. The playtest edition is now public on itch - please check it out and tell your friends!
This is a MONSTER document with 16 playbooks and many, many pages of additional rules (and even secrets), and I am very excited for people beyond my social sphere to get to see what I've been tinkering with for the past ~1.5 years :)
For Riley Hopkins' Interstitial 2e Jam, you too can now play as a Character, but Transgender...
Cool moves about being a cooler transgender person, channeled through Interstitial 2e.
Follow along with yours truly (having played Trans Woman Vash the Stampede in a home game) and play a character from your media of choice But Transgender.
A game jam from 2025-03-05 to 2025-04-03 hosted by Riley Hopkins. DISCLAIMERS: No hateful shit, no transphobic shit, no ai shit. i don't hav
After seeing several Interstitial 2e playbooks pop up here and there, I have decided to make an attempt to gather them all in one spot, and further from that- to convince more people to make them!
This is a jam focused around making new Playbooks for Interstitial, which are all based on archtypes you would see in media like "The Discarded", "The Other", or "The Chosen", or are more meta books like "The Roleplayer" or "The Memory". We also introduced the idea of Everything is Interstitial- playbooks that represent whole other games that take the mechanics of Interstitial for a real spin.
If you have never game designed before, now is a great chance to start! If you have, it's a fun exercise to try and compress your game down to it's basics.
I made a playbook for Interstitial 2e, a really cool game system about crashing your blorbos together Kingdom Hearts style. This one's The $playbookName, designed for the glitches, the placeholders, the background NPCs, and everyone else not intended to ever be on the stage.
You may reasonably ask, Risk, have you ever done tabletop design before? The answer is an emphatic no, and if this playtests and turns out to suck I will accept my fate.
73 - Making Snowbell from Stuart Little (1999) in Interstitial Feat. Riley Hopkins
Interstitial is a game by @revryebread that started as an attempt at a Kingdom Hearts TTRPG but has since evolved into the premiere crossover fanfic RPG! We decided to make Snowbell from Stuart Little with the help of Riley Hopkins on this episode! Though we may have had some issues with staying on track...
let me tell you about a little game called.. Interstitial
you know how we live in this corporate controlled creative economy where stories have been turned into commodities to be controlled and licensed
well fuck all that
STEAL THEM BACK and tell your own stories with them
Interstitial asks 'what if we took those characters off the shelf and played with them' and then centers their growing connections to build these relationships
it can also be 'wouldn't it be cool if X and Y characters met and got into Situations' but with an earnestness that is only possible for fans of that thing to create
it's a gateway to a whole different way of playing with media and I just think that's delightful.
Interstitial Crowd Control - a live AP where you, the audience, play a character of your own - is coming on June 11th! Most importantly, you can vote NOW on your playbook!
