So, forever ago, we were planning a mystery module jam for the release of the next public Eureka: investigative Urban Fantasy update but that just kept getting delayed and I almost forgot that we were planning that.
In the mean time, a lot of progress has been made on fan modules by various fans despite not having a jam.
So I'm making this poll to determine if we would really benefit from doing another jam right now. If we hosted another jam, it would be similar to the last one, with a bit of a vague theme, and an emphasis on certain things that I feel Eureka needs a stronger foundation of in its modules.
Signups would start very soon, submissions would open up a few months later, and it would close a month or two after that. (We don’t believe a good Eureka adventure module can be made in less than a month, assuming that the writer or writers are not doing it as a full-time thing.)
So, if we hosted a mystery module jam..
not currently working on a module but would start working on one for the jam
currently already working on a Eureka module and would be unaffected by the jam
currently working on a Eureka module but would pause to make new one for the jam
A game jam from 2025-03-05 to 2025-04-03 hosted by Riley Hopkins. DISCLAIMERS: No hateful shit, no transphobic shit, no ai shit. i don't hav
After seeing several Interstitial 2e playbooks pop up here and there, I have decided to make an attempt to gather them all in one spot, and further from that- to convince more people to make them!
This is a jam focused around making new Playbooks for Interstitial, which are all based on archtypes you would see in media like "The Discarded", "The Other", or "The Chosen", or are more meta books like "The Roleplayer" or "The Memory". We also introduced the idea of Everything is Interstitial- playbooks that represent whole other games that take the mechanics of Interstitial for a real spin.
If you have never game designed before, now is a great chance to start! If you have, it's a fun exercise to try and compress your game down to it's basics.

A game jam from 2024-09-09 to 2024-09-16 hosted by imsobadatnicknames. Geomorphs are my favorite dungeon creation tool. They are fun to draw
As dungeon geomorphs are my absolute favorite mapmaking tool for TTRPGs, I decided to dip my toes into hosting a small game jam to celebrate this dungeon-making technique.
(If you don't know what geomorphs are or how they're used, check out this post)
The goal of this jam (which will run from September 9th to September 16th) is to create a full dungeon for any tabletop roleplaying game in a week using geomorphs as a mapmaking tool.
For more details you can check out the jam page, and if you decide to join i hope to see youc reate some awesome stuff :)
Something I made for an unofficial Nobilis design jam, inspired equally unofficially by the Quinn's Quest Play to Find Out episodes in which Jenna K. Moran's Nobilis 2nd Edition was played (to find out).
I've always respected Nobilis enormously since I first encountered the Big White Book in the 00s, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, even if I very much did not understand it at the time. But even at that point, I kind of didn't need to understand it to feel it was incredibly cool.
So, someone mentions a Nobilis jam is happening, I can't not design something for it. And so here's Onomastos, a game about awakening as a god.
It's pretty different to my usual TTRPGs in most ways. As much as I like a good 'thou' and an underused Middle English word here and there. But I hope it gives someone some unexpected delight, and maybe even a fun thing to play.
My trawl through itch.io's game jams continues (see this post for my first find). I wanted to highlight a few more currently running TTRPG (or inclusive of TTRPGs) jams, particularly ones that aren't linked to a particular system. I've also chosen jams that don't rank entries, as a personal preference.
Here's the shortlist of what I found, listed in order of how long the jame has left, shortest time to longest:
The 2024 TTRPG Pitch-in Jam!

This jam utilises a bunch of titles/pitches for games as inspiration for those who join. The idea is that you take that title/pitch and make a short TTRPG using it.

Dice Exploder Pregen Jam
A game jam from 2024-07-15 to 2024-10-01 hosted by Lady Tabletop, Sam Roberts, sdunnewold & greenbriar. Welcome to the second Dice Exploder
This jam asks entrants to create a TTRPG/adjacent game revolving around Pregenerated Characters, that is, characters who are integral to the game itself, such that the game would not work with a different cast. They've provided a bunch of names for characters if you struggle with that kind of thing.

Pride in the Fall Jam!

If you're in the TTRPG space on Tumblr, you've likely already seen this one floating around. @efangamez launched this one, focusing on (and I mean focusing in an incredibly broad sense here) the queer community/experience. For a TTRPG (or other piece of media) to be included, it must involve queerness in some way, be made within the past year, and you must fall under the 2SLGBTQIA+ umbrella. That's it. Go wild.

Wordsy's TTRPG Jam - Autumn 2024
A game jam from 2024-09-01 to 2024-11-01 hosted by WordsWitWonder Gaming. Hello, my fellow game designers! Welcome to the first Wordsy's TTR
Nice simple set of requirements for this one. Requirement 1 - incorporate the theme of "Autumn". Requirement 2 - be a TTRPG or physical game of some description. Requirement 3 - be made within the jam duration; and lastly Requirement 4 - not be bigoted/discriminatory or use AI. Sounds like a good time!

10 Minute TTRPGs Mega Jam
A game jam from 2024-04-06 to 2083-06-27 hosted by cutestpatoot. Welcome to the Official Jam for the podcast 10 Minute TTRPGS! 10MTTRPGs is
Final jam of this batch, and no need to hurry with this one. For this jam you'll need to jump over to the 10 Minute TTRPGs show on Spotify or YouTube to grab a prompt from one of their episodes. Armed with this prompt, you're ready to go! There's no need for the game to be made in (or played in) 10 minutes, but you can if you want. The only other rules are that it must be a TTRPG, and that it must be free from bigotry - standard stuff.
Time left (at time of writing): 58 years, 9 month, 18 days, 4 hours
And that's the list! I'm sure I'll do this again at some point, but for now, go check the jams out! Make something cool! Find something cool!
