Me: I'm a writer

Interviewer: Oh what have you had published?

Me: Nothing, it's a personal choice

Interviewer (screwing up face): So you're not quite a writer then?

WHEN WILL PEOPLE LEARN THAT PUBLISHING YOUR WRITING IS NOT WHAT MAKES YOU A WRITER, WRITING IS!!!!!

This legitimately JUST happened in an interview less than 20 minutes ago:

Interviewers (yes, multiple interviewers which threw me off because I was expecting 1 guy): If you have any writing samples we would love to see them.

Me: Oh I have this little site I JUST set up, it has 2 or 3 things on it, it’s not great, just some stuff I wrote for school assignments as someone else requested.

YES. I said “IT NOT GREAT” in an Interview about my writing.

I will TOTALLY get that job..

But in fairness I was Completely thrown off when there were 3 of them. They didn’t tell me there was going to be 3 of them. I was not prepared for that. I entered the room thinking “oh this is gonna be a group interview, one of these people is the actual interviewer and the rest of us are being interviewed” so I was quiet at first. Then I realized I was interviewing for All 3 of them. So, yeah. That’s great.
