It’s getting dark in Tokyo and anything can happen... My first book by Haruki Murakami (four years ago) and my first book by Ryū Murakami (a month ago) immediately got me hooked! They are very different, the only similarity being that the stories take place in Tokyo at night. “After Dark” is best illustrated by famous “We are like the dreamer who dreams, and then lives inside the dream.” Murakami never says who the dreamer is and I really like it about him. “In the Miso Soup” is an absolutely brutal, terrifying book 😬 Normally, I try to stay away from anything too graphic unless it is there for artistic reasons and it makes a good story. In this book it is and it does, so I couldn’t put it down no matter how petrified I was and now I want to read everything by this author!
