regarding the INTP stereotypes
me, an INTP: -casually reads other posts about being an INTP-
-said posts are usually about how INTPs are ruthless with fighting logically for what’s logically sound-
me: hmm... yes, what are you, 12?
-checks blog to see it’s a high schooler-
me: ... ah.
my actual immediate thoughts were that debates are only fun when they’re just ... debates, but more importantly, i think the older i got, the less energy i had for arguments not worth arguing — usually because there’s literally no chance at convincing the other side to even see, much less consider, my side ... usually because of their ego or stubbornness. who knows.
admittedly i was that feisty, cynical and prideful as a high schooler. thought i was a “””misunderstood intellect””” but i really was just a snarky shithead with similar snarky shithead friends.
in short, i think that behavior is less of an INTP thing and more of a maturity thing — or lack thereof.
honestly nowadays if i know the other side won’t even listen to any opposition, i just like to read a bunch of research articles and gather a bunch of evidence for the opposition and basically put together a mini paper on why they’re clearly wrong ... but it’s really just for my own eyes, ego / satisfaction, and curiosity ... but also just in case they ever ask, and since writing it out like that gives me the time and space to more linearly and thoroughly delineate my thoughts ... 👀
INTP Problems
Person: INTP, it's 3:30 in the morning. Why are you still up? INTP: Well...I was thinking. And then...I forgot. Person: To sleep?!
INTJ, INTP, ISTJ conversation and tape
*paper rips* ISTJ: Could someone pass me the scotch tape? INTJ: Did you know that scotch tape was invented by Richard Drew? INTP: Did you know that tape is sticky because of pressure-sensitive adhesives with a high viscosity level, and so they actually get the surface on which they are placed wet? ISTJ: Could you PLEASE pass me the scotch tape? INTJ: What do you think would happen if we put scotch tape around a stick of glue? Would it get wetter? INTP: Wait, what does it mean for a wet surface to get "wetter"? INTJ: Experiment time? INTP: I think so. INTJ: Ok, let's start out with you standing against the wall, and we'll tape you to it, so we can measure the level of elasticity and see if that in any way relates to viscosity, or the idea of something being "wet." INTP: INTJ, I'm not letting you tape me to the wall again. ISTJ: PASS. ME. THE. DAMN. TAPE!
I used not to relate to the stereotype that intps stumble everywhere, but then I remembered that bruises often ‘mysteriously’ appear on my body.
I was then forced to admit that its 100% true. It just happens so often that my brain doesn’t even register it.
And that’s probably the most intp thing ever.
The Most INTP Things I've Said #1
•I'd actually prefer a bunch of cats over a S.O. •Maybe I'll get abducted by aliens. They're much cooler than humans. •I'll just stay up all night and finish [a 50 page assignment that I hadn't started]. (I got a 73% on it) •I'm only friends with you because you have food and a cat. •Humans are overrated. •My phone is more important to me than you are. •Compassion is for losers. •That's my favorite torture method.
Stereotypes about INTP answered by INTP
1. 40 living at home in their parents basement. I live with my parents, but I’m also a teenage girl. I actually plan on moving out next year. 2. 40 year old virgin I’m not afraid to say that I am a virgin. This is by personal choice. 3. Socially deprived Yes, I actually am. But it’s not by choice and I’m trying to change it. 4. Game Addicts I play video games like twice a year. I am in no way obsessed. 5. Atheist Christianity is my way of life. 6. Geniuses I am smart, but I wouldn’t say genius. 7. Anti social Anti Social means I don’t like people. I actually love meeting new people, I’m just painfully shy. There is a difference between the two. 8. Perverts Only for the sake of comedy. 9. Nerds LOL YES 10. Computer experts LOL NO BUT MY MOM THINKS I AM. 11. Lazy Frick you. I work hard. 12. Too serious. People mistake being quiet for being serious. But I am actually a professional goof and take very few things seriously. 13. Stoned. Nope. I don’t do drugs, man. People ask if I’m high or on shrooms all the time. But I think that’s because they’re used to me being “serious” and aren’t used to seeing that I am ACTUALLY FUCKING HILARIOUS. 14. Naive. A little. But people tend to think I’m way more naive than I actually am. I think it’s because I do give off the childish vibes. (Dudes, feel free to add your own or answer the ones I did!)

Which stereotype you feel wrongfully represents your type?
The warmest robot, probably. While INTPs are good at hiding or repressing their emotions, they are definitely, even at their most immature and emotionally unaware age, not insensitive or emotionless. Doesn’t mean they wouldn’t like to be.
