anyway. shoutout to sourced sysmates who's identity doesn't line up with their sources. you don't need to justify yourself or why you are the way you are you. you don't have to restrict yourself or lie to yourself because you think people won't accept you. youre allowed to be yourself. maybe you'll have to hide it from dangerous people, but know that there's nothing wrong with you for being who you are.
this especially goes for those who don't share their sources queer identity. you are not erasure. you are an important person as well and anyone who insists you shouldnt be allowed to exist as yourself isnt worth your time.
Being an introject or not isn’t cut and dry. Some can be partially an introtive, be post-,or merged with one, one can consider themselves ‘kin without being an introject, and a myriad of other relationships with outside sources. You don’t have to call yourself an introtive definitively, nor are you barred from it. Plurality is rarely cut and dry!
does anyone know if there's already a term coined for introtives that are sourced from an image? i can't seem to find anything on pluralpedia (although there's a good chance i've missed something relevant) and it feels like it would already have been coined?? would be cool if anyone knew anything about this. :]
how did you know that you had octives or fictives that weren’t just ‘I relate to X’??? asking bc i have a lot of characters that I relate to but am unsure if they’re part of my system !! thanks !
This is almost definitely an unhelpful answer buuuut...
We don't know for sure TwT
Our attitude to our system is basically "throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks" lol. But, that doesn't mean we don't have ways to tell though! (Although they're not foolproof)
We don't tend to find fictional characters relatable. We think it's because we're low empathy but we're not sure. To tell if they're a fictive, we have a couple methods: mostly, interact with the source material and see if we start feeling switchy, or read about the character in question and pay attention to our thoughts to see if they say anything.
We get brief flashes of various emotions from our fictives when we interact with their source, and often a sense of "hey that's me". It's stronger than just "relating", to us. However, that begs the question: is it a kin, not a fictive?
Our way of telling those apart is by thinking - is it something we feel all the time? From what we know of kins, they don't really go away - you can have shifts that stop but for us as conceptkins we're always faintly aware of the fact we're not human. Fictive feelings, however, come and go depending on if they're fronting or not.
So, if you have good communication, try reaching out to / asking the fictive, referring to them by their name and trying to talk. If it's just relating, you won't have that feeling of "that is me, 100% me not in a joking or he just like me frfr way but that is me".
When we suspect new pluralians or introtives, we try and err on the side of assuming they're there instead of a kin/strongly relating, mostly because we don't want to brush a pluralian off and upset them.
Fairly recently, we thought we had an Artemis Fowl fictive. He turned out to not exist, so it was either some kind of walk-in, a fictionflicker, or just mistaking someone / something else for a fictive. We don't know, and it doesn't help that we don't have a headspace
Anyway, hopefully this helped you. Thanks for your ask

to keep with the -tive theme of fictive/factive/faitive/etc. As well as if your uncomfortable with medical-coined language!
we did technically coin this, months ago, but only in the sense of "we started using it and it caught on" but we seen someone be confused about about "why it was a thing" or "why its needed"
We're autistic and keeping a theme is something big for us. 2, we used to be rlly uncomfortable with "medical coined language" we no longer care, but some may so! Heres an explanation.
