(EDIT2: Since there is WAY too much going on at once, there's this site specifically designed to combat these kinda bills by sending the necessary emails to the US representatives:
https://www.badinternetbills.com/)
Original post goes here:
So, with KOSA apparently being reintroduced all over again, I once again urge my USAmerican followers - call your representatives and make sure that shit doesn't get voted in.
(EDIT: There is now an even worse act that got introduced in the form of the SCREEN act, S. 737 (not to be confused with the other SCREEN act, which is... Apparently for something else entirely.) - in a nutshell, it's UK's Online Safety Act on steroids, and if it passes, will be enforced by the FTC, who can and will go even after non-profits like AO3. Call your reps and tell them to vote no on it!
EDIT4: I already added the badinternetbills link, but screw it, I'll mention another bill to call your reps about - the IODA bill, AKA Interstate Obscenity Definition Act, which is basically pure queerphobia in legislation form. So, likewise - call your reps and tell them to vote no on it!)
UK followers - continue signing that one petition to repeal the Online Safety Act, contact your MPs, etc.
Canadian - apparently there is another bill they're trying to push through, S.209, so you know, take action against that as well.
EU Citizens - Apparently Denmark is trying to push through a similar bill of their own, known as the CSAM scanning bill, so you know, do something about that as well?

Reminder - All of these laws are NOT about safety, but about control.
And no matter what else happens - do not obey in advance and try to keep a cool head about things. We can and SHOULD fight for our freedom, but remember that you shouldn't let them burn you out over it. Driving people to despair with fear is how they win.

As many or if less of you've seen over the past week or so, I'm sure you've seen the kind of shit going around. I like many of you been afraid and concerned with a lot of it, but I am making a concentrated effort to help push an effort to spread awareness and more importantly, resources on how we CAN fight back against this. I know the feeling of defeatism all to well, but apathy will not help us. There ARE people who believe in change, that can help change, and believe there is hope to change. If you are TIRED of this kind of shit being pushed, you speak up. One bump, another bump, and a hundred bumps more. Spread the message where you can or tell people who are heavily affected by it, those who aren't as aware, but we have to work together to concentrate it to a bigger power. "The Interstate Obscenity Definition Act (IODA) from Senator Mike Lee represents a severe threat to free speech and LGBTQ+ rights in the United States. By redefining obscenity in an overly broad manner, this legislation could criminalize any depiction or discussion of sexual activity, undermining artistic expression and access to vital information about sexuality and gender."
"Furthermore, the IODA aligns disturbingly with the discriminatory goals outlined in the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 policy blueprint, which explicitly seeks to outlaw "the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology" under the guise of combating pornography. Enabling such blatant transphobia through legislation is utterly unacceptable. This misguided bill poses a grave danger to the LGBTQ+ community as well as anyone seeking to engage in legal free expression regarding human sexuality."
"Congress must firmly reject the IODA and any effort to enshrine bigotry into law under false pretenses. Protecting marginalized groups and upholding fundamental rights must take precedence over the discriminatory agenda fueling this damaging proposal." IN ADDITION I made a deviantart post sharing my founded resources towards #savespeech and the fight against censorship, if you'er on deviantart or can share it where you can I'd be very grateful to help get the word out and actually help people get the resources they need to make a difference. https://www.deviantart.com/alexiswasilla2001/journal/Anti-Censorship-Save-Speech-Resources-122942424
