How to Place an Order On Doordash

If you want to order food from the comforts of your home, you can now do so with just a few taps on your smartphone. DoorDash is a food delivery service that can be accessed through a smartphone application available on Android and iOS devices. This food delivery app has partnered with top restaurants in your city so you can choose from a wide range of cuisines to satisfy your cravings.

Below is an example of an order placed through the DoorDash smartphone application:

Downloading & Installing

Download the DoorDash app on your smartphone by visiting the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Sign up for a new account with a username and a secure password. You can also sign up using your Google or Facebook account.

Upon signing up, DoorDash will send you a verification code via SMS or email to verify your identity.

Open the DoorDash app and enter the verification code to complete sign up.

Add your delivery address in the accounts tab to view nearby restaurant recommendations in the food tab.

Tip: You can refer a friend and get $20 in credits when someone signs up and places an order over $10.

Order Placement

‘Let’s assume that “Chaat Bhavan” is your favorite local restaurant and has partnered with DoorDash. Follow the steps below to place an order from “Chaat Bhavan.”

Select the Food tab on your home screen.

Search for “Chaat Bhavan” and tap to view its menu.

The menu consists of categories such as popular items, mouth-watering snacks, desserts and exotic refreshments.

Each category has a set of items. You can add multiple items from the categories to your cart.

Pick an item and select the quantity. For example, select ‘Garlic Naan’ and add quantity.

Add instructions such as spice level, and extra toppings.

Tap add to order. The item will appear below in your screen under view cart.

Tap ← arrow on the top left corner of your screen to go back to the menu.

Tap view cart to see the items added to your cart. The subtotal, tax and fees, and delivery charges will appear at the bottom. 

Tap continue to place your order. This will take you to the final step of checkout.

The checkout screen will show you a map, your address, delivery instructions, and the estimate time of arrival.

Select an amount for the dasher tip. Dasher is the person who will deliver your food.

Tap payment  and add your credit card details to proceed with payment.

A submitting order screen will appear with your address, name of the restaurant, and items you ordered. If you wish to cancel your order, you have a few seconds to do so by clicking cancel order.

Your order is confirmed and you will receive an order confirmation email and text message from DoorDash.

Tap track your order to check where your order is on a map in real time. The dasher details will appear below.

Once your order is ready to be picked, you will receive another text message that your order has been picked up from “Chaat Bhavan” and your dasher is on the way.

You will receive a final text message to inform you that your dasher is approaching with your order. 

Note:

You can click on any individual item at any point to remove the item from the cart.

You can select Apple Pay, if you wish to proceed to payment using this method.
